History of pancreatitis

I had pancreatitis 4 years ago which was caused by gallstones. I had my gallbladder out 3 years ago, and no recurrence of pancreatitis. I'm aware that a history of pancreatitis counts you out for injectables and I'm not prepared to lie and take the risk online (pancreatitis is the worst thing I've ever experienced, and my labour was 4 days long!) . However I did wonder whether there was any point getting an appointment with a prescriber to talk through it and whether anyone had been prescribed wegovy or mounjaro in similar circumstances?

If it's a blanket no, not under any circumstances if you've ever had pancreatitis then I won't bother but my weight is really getting me down.

Clinical professionals use information known as the Summary of Product Characteristics (SPC) to make prescribing decisions. That says:
"Tirzepatide has not been studied in patients with a history of pancreatitis, and should be used with caution in these patients.
Acute pancreatitis has been reported in patients treated with tirzepatide.
Patients should be informed of the symptoms of acute pancreatitis. If pancreatitis is suspected, tirzepatide should be discontinued."

I would read this as it isn't a flat NO but GPs are not in a position to prescribe this so would probably not want to advise and most private prescribers might be very cautious. I would suggest trying one of the prescribers that offers more than the basic online pharmacies if you want to ask someone

I use Superdrug, ticked yes for pancreatitis and was accepted for treatment.

ETA online prescription of mounjaro

Just to update in case anyone else is wondering. I filled out the form online for superdrug with a full and frank history of my gallbladder and pancreatitis issues and was prescribed Mounjaro. Will take it steady and stop at the first glimpse of any issues but I'm very excited to get going. 😀
