When does Mounjaro kick in?!

I did by first injection yesterday - just wondering when it’s meant to kick in or is it a gradual thing?

It can be very subtle to begin with , can I ask what you are expecting as 2.5 is just a loading dose and you still have to exercise willpower and make different choices to lose

I would say it would be sensible to do some research on how the drug works before making the 6 month plus commitment of starting it...
the initial dose is a titration dose. Some people will feel effects immediately , but many won't.

As others have said, 2.5mg is solely a dose to allow your body to become accustomed to the drug so that, when you increase the dose to more effective levels, you can tolerate it and are not floored by side-effects. Some people do claim to have effects on 2.5mg but it is unclear how much is the effect of the drug and how much is placebo effect as the manufacturers testing for weight loss only began at 5mg.

It suggests you have self-injected with a medication without understanding how it works, or reading the information leaflet it comes with.

You must understand this medication if you are going to take it. This is like asking if the sky is up.

(Disclaimer: I have nothing against GLP-1 meds, bee taking Mounjaro myself for 3 months).

Think it is a gradual thing. No side effects except vivid dreams/not going into a deep sleep and going off coffee shop coffee.
But I’ve an MJ 2.5 pen that expired in May 24 and came with one of those letters from manufacturer that it is safe to take really until Nov 24… I don’t mind if it has lost some of it’s potency personally.

First week I lost 2.5lb (Mind I exercise every day without fail) Second week no weigh in/no idea
Third week away in another part of UK - lots of meals out, remained active each day spent lots of time in the outdoor swimming pool - came home worst case put a pound on.
To me you are going to make better choices mindset if you are paying for it.

Sometimes people come on here asking for real life experiences and get a hard time for not reading enough theory. Real life doesn’t always read the text books.

Essentially OP it is different for different people. Some people take their first 2.5mg and feel ill or have D&V from the first day, can hardly eat a thing and lose 8lb in a week. Others feel more effect at the beginning or end of the weeks. Other people don’t notice any effect at all from the 2.5 mg dose in side effects or appetite suppression and have to wait until 5 or 7.5 mg to start losing much weight.

Because of the 5 day half life of the drug, the amount in your system builds up over the weeks even if you stick to the same dose so sometimes the effects in week 2 or three will be more noticeable.

loads on it but real life is different! I didn’t expect to change much until the higher dose but my friend who is on it said it work instantly for her. It’ll be interesting to see where I am in a month… hopefully smaller 🤣

Yeah my side effects (only 2 days after first injection) are minimal. Some nausea but food wise - I still have an appetite.

Well done on your first weeks loss! Yeah I agree it’s costly so I want to do well. I’ve increased my exercise and calorie counting as well.

I have taken my 3rd 2.5mg on Mounjaro today and I haven't really noticed any appetite suppression.

I was on Wegovy for 6 months, did okay but decided to switch to Mounjaro.

Since having to wait the 5 weeks for Wegovy to leave my system and the 3 weeks of Mounjaro, I've gained about 9lb!

I'm praying 5mg will help me see some suppression! I did wonder if I was the only person it wasn't working for
