I'm looking at the various injections, and wondering if I'm misunderstanding the prices and how the pens get used!

Are the prices per pen? Are these pens single injections or multiple injections per pen? How many pens do you use a week?

None of the breakdowns make it clear to me....

Is there a cheapest way to do it?

In the uk a pen has four doses in it and you inject one dose a week.
So you'll buy one pen a month.

That's really helpful, thanks @Snozzlemaid! I need to look at the money and whether I can make it work... Something needs to give as I'm over 20st, but it's still a lot of dosh to find.

It is a lot and I took a long time to decide to go for it.
I am eating so much less food so I figure I'm getting some of it back with a reduced grocery bill.
I paid about £145 for my first pen, switched to a different supplier for my second and paid £124 for it.
The price does go up though as you buy the higher doses.

They are expensive but I was easily spending the equivalent on food, buying lunches in work, then 3pm coke and snack, then something for commute home, then take aways. I'd say I coukd argue I'm saving money now. I also am doing 16:8, so I really only eat 2 meals a day now. And you can get 5 doses out of it, it is all on the other threads.

I was on it for 7 months and spent £1047 in total. If you opt for Wegovy you can save money by staying on lower doses for longer, there's no need to move up while it's still working, but still buying the stronger pens and counting clicks to take the dose you want. You can drag the pens out for longer that way.

Mounjaro gives a much better weight loss though and has fewer side-effects.

The difference I've spent in food and wine has been staggering.

Perhaps you could look at what you spent in supermarkets and takeaways etc over the last month and see how you could make savings.

I decided I would pay £2000 from my savings to be slim. Am on Wegovy and the lowest dose is already working. Am in week 3 of a 2.5 pen which was £170.
I think I will save money on clothes and alcohol. Won’t need to try so hard to find clothes that look OK. Might not need to buy only wide fit shoes. Can maybe use the size 12 and 14 clothes I have hung on to!

BTW, once you get near goal you will spend a fortune on clothes. I literally cannot stop buying more stuff, I need an intervention 😂

You can do this on Mounjaro too, I'm 3 weeks in and 6.5kg/1 stone lighter on the lowest dose (2.5mg) and planning to continue on this dose, by using the extra (5th) dose, counting clicks, as long as I'm still losing weight on it. I'll only move to a higher dose if I'm no longer losing at all.

My motivation is to avoid side effects and to develop good habits without completely blocking cravings/food noise, but counting clicks in this way will also save me a lot of money. (Yes it's still expensive but I've borrowed money to fund Mounjaro--I decided I'd rather be in debt than develop severe health problems or die early due to morbid obesity).

I used Bolt and paid £125 for my 2.5 pen and £152.50 for the 5mg one.

As others have said, for mounjaro the pen is for 4 doses but you can get 5 out of each one which helps with the cost. The continuing mounjaro threads give guidance on how to do this on the opening post.
