Getting started with Mounjaro

I’ve finally bitten the bullet with Mounjaro and had the package delivered. Have 3.5 stone to loose.

Feeling nervous now, would love to hear stories about how you have avoided / managed symptoms, tips for eating enough protein, how much water to drink, do you drink electrolytes etc.

Welcome!

I am pretty new to it and just starting week four. I try and drink a protein ‘juice’ (flavoured clear protein) a day and I focus on protein when I eat. I’m not worrying too much about calories per day and trying to look at it holistically across the week. Some days I’m only managing one meal and other days I’m hungry and eating three. I have had no desire for junk food and a weird desire to eat ‘clean’ foods since starting. Self-confessed chocoholic and haven’t had any in three weeks.

I’ve always drank loads anyway, but I’m making sure I get a good 2-3l per day plus my morning coffee and the occasional diet soda.

I do take electrolytes but only when I’m on a day where I know I won’t be eating as much as usual.

I have four stones to lose and have just received my first batch. I’m overwhelmed by it all, scared of doing it all wrong, scared of the side effects. I’m wobbling.

I started in Feb on Mounjaro and switched to Wegovy a month ago for cost reasons. I've lost 3 1/2 stone so far and have no sagging skin.i drink 4-5 litres a day. Haven't had any side effects.

Good luck on your journey! This is an older thread but since I posted this I’ve lost 25% of my body weight and have a few pounds to go to until I’m in a healthy BMI.

Congratulations on making the decision to change your life!

I am 19 months in now and am maintaining after losing 8 1/2 stone.

Side effects are pretty personal really and you’ll learn your own triggers as you go along. Focus your meals on protein and fibre. Added protein products really are not needed and don’t get too hung up on it. Drink as much water as you can but aim for a couple of litres a day. Electrolytes and other supplements really are not necessary other than vit d and I would recommend creatine for its multiple benefits.

Just relax and don’t overthink it. Don’t expect to lose weight every week or to lose vast amounts too quickly. Ignore those TikTok accts that try to sell you 100s of supplements to guarantee a loss of a stone a month or something equally crazy. Stay positive and enjoy nourishing your body!

Good luck!
