Should I give up?

Hi all, I've started using semaglutide from an online pharmacy. My BMI was/ is 34. Trying to go from a size 16 to 12. About 24kg to lose.
Followed the dose. First week ok but felt queasy first day, then felt it worked, stopped some noise of wanting to snack/ eat all the time but also felt a bit 'off' the whole time so didn't crave healthy food- wanted comfort. Then last two days felt little to no effect of it but maintained healthy eating. Lost 3kg so was motivated to continue.

Second week- am on day 2 of feeling absolutely shit. Have taken the day off (I'm people-facing and have an upset stomach, not a great combo) which I absolutely cannot afford to do.

If it follows the same pattern then I'll feel a bit better tomorrow and have a couple of good days and then do it all over again. The thing is it actually stopped me doing the more physical stuff I had been doing because I am so wiped out. In the mornings I usually walk but now I feel sick or tired and same for the evenings when I'd started yoga. I could sleep all day honestly.

So basically, will it improve or is it likely to be my body's reaction to it and I should cut my losses (boom boom) and give up?

I have v low self esteem and my exH relentlessly attacked me over my weight/ lack of motivation and commitment to lose it and I feel such an idiot wasting money I don't have on something I hoped would finally kick me down the road towards being myself again. I feel miserable like this but have so much other shit in my life I just hoped this would be an investment in myself and help me get where I need to be.

I presume you are on Wegovy?
I don't think anyone can predict how you might be going forward as, if you read through the posts on here, experiences can differ wildly. Some people have minimal side effects on loading doses but have worse on higher ones. Some seem to get off lightly all the way through. Some experience issues when first starting or moving up a dose, but it then settles down.
There does seem a pattern, though, that side effects are worse when not eating, not drinking enough water or eating fatty foods or those that spike sugar. I've also read some posts from people who have switched from Wegovy to Mounjaro and had fewer side effects.
I totally get the low self esteem and fear of money wasting - I'm in a similar position.
Good luck and I hope it settles down for you.

Thanks. It seems a bit like a hangover at the moment- not eating because I feel rough and wanting comfort food. I have had lots of water (always gasping since taking it) but yesterday the food which sent me to bed/ the bathroom until now was a salad with feta/ cucumber/ tomatoes/ lettuce and a sweet potato... prob half portion compared to what I usually have. I feel like that should be healthy but since then all I've wanted is a slice of ham and a piece of toast. Actually what I want is chips or Coke or something to bubble and blast away this queasy feeling and upset stomach. Luckily am trapped at home so can't action that anyway, but concerned it's the opposite effect others describe. The alternative is eating nothing because that's how shit I feel- but seeing you say this perpetuates it I might try another slice of ham later today... 🤢

Yes wegovy but will have to stick with this or give up but taking another is not financially possible anyway.

I know I'm sort of talking to myself here but it's helping me anyway 😂
If anyone does read this- is the tiredness felt by everyone or is that just me..?! I've been feeling less sick and more on it as expected for these in between days- but still so tired... wanted to start more active fitness and I can't even get out of bed to let the dog out.
Hard to gauge as I'm often tired from an insane life but finding the basics very wearying. Hope it stops!

I had some tiredness the whole time I was on it. I have a busy life and don't sleep enough, but the Wegovy definitely made it worse. You sort of get used to it though. After a while you just get into the swing of things, learn how to eat in a way to minimise symptoms, exercise despite feeling tired. It was worth the pain for me.
