Hello

I am on my 4th week of 5mg Mournjaro. I am still hardly eating and suffering quite badly with nausea (any tips are very welcome I am following advice drinking water, mint/ginger tea, cut back on fatty food) but someone usually had some great advice

I was planning to stay on 5mg for another month I just wondering if others had and how things worked out for them ?

many thanks

im 10kg down and absolutely over the mood about this 😊

I did. I struggled going up to 5mg and wanted another month to get used to it. It worked in that the side effects died down and I felt ok on it. I did start to notice it didn't seem to be working quite as well so I used the "bonus dose" to make my last two doses from the pen 7.5mg instead. Did a full dose, new needle, half dose. That worked well and I went up to 7.5mg fine actually.

I didn’t realise you have a bonus dose 😳

I shall follow that thank you

I’m really struggling with the nausea was ready to have a week off it is especially bad the day after my injection

Yes the pens contain extra, really to allow for priming but it basically amounts to an extra dose or even slightly more in each pen. Once you've done the fourth dose the pen won't twist properly again but you can give it a good hard twist to force it. Or you can use insulin needles to extract it (I've not tried that). You'll need additional needles for the pen to use it as you need to use a fresh one each time you inject.

I did. Similar to you, after 4 weeks on 5mg I was still experiencing a level of nausea (plus tiredness) that I did not want to risk exacerbating by moving up to 7.5mg. I’ve been on 5mg for 9 weeks (10 doses, using the bonus doses) now and have lost 1stone 5lb in that time, so still a reliable 2lbs a week (I lost 1 stone 7lbs in my first 5 weeks on 2.5). The nausea and exhaustion have now really eased, in fact it’s pretty non-existent, so my next dose will be 7.5. There’s really no point in risking feeling very unwell if you’re still experiencing side effects.

I stayed on 2.5mg for 10 weeks and lost 23lbs, im now on my second dose of 5mg and will stay on this for as long as I feel it's working. Especially as I have horrendous sulphur burps and I'm feeling really nauseous with it this week.

Thank you for your responses

I have decided I shall definitely stay on 5mg for another 4 week and the last week increase my dose

im very glad to hear the nausea eases

Thank you again 😊

I’ve been on 5mg since 15th April, not felt the need to move up yet, suppression is still good and I’m still losing!
