Mounjaro arriving tomorrow- top tips?

so I finally bit the bullet and ordered it, stepped on the scales and I’m now 20 stone so got about half my body weight to lose. Any tips for using the mounjaro? Where do I inject it, is it easy to do? What are the side effects like? Will I just not feel hungry? I’m always so grumpy when I’m on a diet, I’ve heard this stops the hungry feeling so I’m hoping the grumpiness won’t start. Anything I need to think about before starting?

No advice from personal experience to give as mine also arrives tomorrow. I have been reading bits on fb and following a few people on tiktok to try to find how others are doing. I'm worried about side effects, especially tiredness and nausea but I'm hoping that I'm one of the lucky ones. Good luck and post how you are getting on. I could do with a Mounjaro buddy 🤣

ObsidianTree · 11/03/2024 22:06

Good luck with your journey!

You can inject in your thigh, stomach or back of arm. Although I think most do stomach or thigh.

Side effects wise so far the main ones are feeling cold, constipation. I had a bit of a headache the day or two after taking it. The constipations can get quite bad so maybe think about getting something to help with that ahead of time.

I've been on it for just over 2 weeks and I don't feel hungry. I do still feel like sweet things but noticed that when I have something sweet I feel full quite quickly so eat less than I might usually. Also when having meals I get full quite quickly. It did take me about 3 injections to feel more of the effects.

MammothyGoodness · 11/03/2024 22:09

@tensmum1964 that sounds good! Let me know how you get on! I have a big works presentation on Wednesday so going to start on Thursday I think!

@ObsidianTree thank you! Hadn’t even thought about constipation, good to know about the sweet things though

It’s arrived! It’s come in ice packs and a huge thing of wool which I wasn’t expecting. Not sure what to do with that! But it’s all safe in my fridge now. I’ve read through the instructions about 50 times and pretty sure I understand what I’m doing. Just need to be brave enough to do it now! Bring on Thursday!

It's for type 2 diabetes.
Are you sure you have got it right? It's not the weight loss injection.
You have to be monitored by a diabetic nurse.
Have your Thyroid checked often for Thyroid cancer.
Also check for jaundice and gallbladder problems.
Can affect your kidneys and pancreas.
Did you have all these blood tests before it was prescribed?

GN637 · 12/03/2024 12:32

@Moier everybody is getting it for relatively quick and easy weight loss from online pharmacies. No bloods or anything needed except sometimes a photo of them and the scales. No addressing of underlying issues at all. Unscrupulous companies imo preying on vulnerable obese people who have the cash to spare. Reading these threads a lot of users don't even understand how it works. Scary.

MammothyGoodness · 12/03/2024 15:23

@Moier its been prescribed for weight loss. I’m not diabetic (doctor says it’s good genes because I should be at my weight)

I’m 3 days in. Thrilled with it so far. First time in 20 years food isn’t controlling me. I’ve seen a lady on instagram who’s been on it a long time in the USA and her top tip is not to move up a dose unless you need to so I’ll be following that advice.

If you know anyone who keeps worms (composting worms) they’ll have the wool. Weird I know, I gave mine to my mum

@tensmum1964 how are you getting on? I love it so far, no side effects at all, I can’t believe how amazing it is!

@ObsidianTree i know exactly how you feel. For the first time in my life I’m not obsessed over what I’m going to eat next and when. I’ve been leaving food after a couple of bites and went to the shops today and didn’t buy anything for myself! It’s the weirdest feeling ever! Tonight I had three mouthfuls of curry and I’m still full now

I definitely think it's working as my appetite has reduced a lot and its only been a couple of days. I'm not craving chocolate and am eating healthy small portions 3 times a day. I feel like I could eat less but I'm making myself have 3 meals so that I get the appropriate amount of nutrition. I've stopped snacking in between meals too because I don't feel I need to, so that's a bonus. Normally with diets I constantly crave forbidden food but I'm not at the minute I've not had any side effects either so I'm really pleased about that. At the moment it does feel pretty amazing but my cynical brain keeps thinking it's a fluke lol. I hope it isn't and that this way of being continues.

I'm not going to rush in to upping my dose too soon either. If this dose works for me I'm sticking with it for as long as it keeps working.

Hi. How are you getting on? I've just done week I and only lost 2llb which was disappointing but better than nothing.

MammothyGoodness · 22/03/2024 16:15

I lost 8lb in my first week so I’m pretty happy! I think the big change for me is that I’m not craving sugar? So usually I’d have sweets and biscuits and I’ve just sat with the kids and they’ve had an icecream and I’ve watched without feeling anything?

Hello can I join in please, just ordered my first dose yesterday, not sure when it will arrive the website says they have a high demand at the moment so I won't get posted out until early next week, I'm thinking of waiting until after the Easter weekend is over before I take my first dose as I don't want to have to explain to family why I'm not eating much, I wanted to keep it under wraps for a while. feeling excited but nervous. I'm only 5ft 2" and weigh18 stones I look and feel bloody awful, the menopause isn't helping either. fingers crossed I don't get too many side effects. Hope everyone is getting on ok with it so far. I have found Tik tok a wealth of information from others that are on it.

Wow 8llb, that's amazing, well done. I'm hoping for a slightly bigger loss next week but we will see.

Gorgonemilezola · 22/03/2024 18:02

Could I ask what you're paying per week - It seems incredibly expensive via Boots.

Pigriver · 22/03/2024 21:12

I’m paying £180 per month which yes is a lot but if you view it as the price of a takeaway and bottle of wine a week plus money saved on snacks it’s easier the balance it imo.
I’ve just taken my fourth jab and feel great, little to no side effects and 9lb down.

tensmum1964 · 22/03/2024 21:44

I'm paying £150 a month from Medex

susiedaisy1912 · 23/03/2024 13:44

I just paid £155 from Medexpress.

Gorgonemilezola · 23/03/2024 13:55

So Boots pretty expensive in comparison. Am pondering..........

susiedaisy1912 · 23/03/2024 17:31

Apparently Boots is one of the dearest but you get more one to one support

MammothyGoodness · 23/03/2024 19:15

@susiedaisy1912 yes please join! I’d love the company! I paid £180 for mine from Asda and it arrived the next day. I hope it isn’t hard to get when I need more!

@Pigriver well done!
