Said Yes to this dress!...but do I need to change my colour scheme?

First trip dress shopping and after trying on 6 others and thinking there was no way I would find one I liked I tried this on and absolutely loved it! It doesn't actually look much like the image on me, my boobs are much bigger.

It does come in Ivory but this colour just did something lovely for my skin tone (mostly red and blotchy!) so I've decided to go with it.

However I had decided on sage for the bridesmaid dresses. Does it still work and if not what other colours should I be looking at (any suggestions other than pink welcome. MoH would kill me 😅)

I like the sage.. I had a similar colour dress and my bridesmaids were in bottle green, and we had some gold stuff lying about. Worked nicely x

NiqueNique · 03/09/2022 19:32

Sage is perfect.

Largethighsbadeyes · 03/09/2022 19:32

Thanks! How do I tell my OH that he needs a brown suit rather than gray without giving away the colour, is my next problem! 🤔

Giving away the colour of my dress that is

Grey would be fine (a paler grey and sage green tie). I honestly think brown would look horrible but grey would be lovely and ‘go’.

NiqueNique · 03/09/2022 19:41

As long as the grey is either warm or cool, as appropriate, to match the other colours, grey would be just fine. Not sure brown is the way to go, tbh, unless you meant more in the greige area...

Largethighsbadeyes · 03/09/2022 19:51

Was thinking something like this for the suit but now my mind is blown 🙈 I don't even know what a warm or cool grey is.

Maybe I should have gone with ivory after all

This is someone else wearing the dress with a dark grey suit...

It's a beautiful dress and colour. The sages goes beautifully with it.

I dont think its necessary for husband's suit to coordinate.

figmaofmyimagination · 03/09/2022 20:11

I think a grey suit would work with both dresses much better than a brown one.

SpringIntoChaos · 03/09/2022 20:29

I actually really like the brown suit - I think it looks very classy and would tone beautifully with the dress!

Sage green for bridesmaids, and a darker, bottle green maybe for your MoH, would coordinate beautifully with the dress and a brown suit...giving your bridal party a gorgeous natural, earthy feel and look. Lots of dark green ivy in your flowers would be nice too. Very 'woodland' 🥰

Largethighsbadeyes · 03/09/2022 20:45

@SpringIntoChaos that was my thought too I have to say.

The wedding theme is quite rustic. Getting married in a (cheap!) Listed building with lovely woodland grounds and the centrepieces are log slices, candles in jars, Greenery etc

Gorgeous!

NancyJoan · 03/09/2022 20:52

Bridesmaids in ivory then.

That does sound perfect 😍 I'm a Celebrant, so see lots of colour themes, and this is one of my favourites. Really natural and classical...photos always look stunning with these colours too 💗

MuddlerInLaw · 03/09/2022 21:01

Would the bridesmaids’ dresses be the same as the photo? To my eye the sage dress shown doesn’t match the smooth formality of your gown.

(If I’m honest I feel the sage is a bit insipid and takes away from the pale pink. But I’m clearly in the minority!)

Bridesmaids in ivory then.

Yes! That's what I'd do too!

CelebrateAndDream · 03/09/2022 21:05

This mood board shows how well the colours would work.

How about a darker green for the bridesmaids dresses to match the autumnal setting. You could then incorporate paler berries and darker leaves into your bouquet.

MamaDuckling · 03/09/2022 21:34

Beautiful dress, the colour scheme shown by @CelebrateAndDream is gorgeous.

I agree with @MuddlerInLaw though, the style of your dresses don’t sit well together. Both beautiful of course, but yours is more formal/structured and the bridesmaid dress more whimsical/floaty - it’s these that don’t look right together I think.

SamLane · 03/09/2022 21:38

MoH could be in ‘heather’ with the sage or a darker sage.

Ahh it never occurred to me about the style of the dresses but I think you are right!
Is this better?

I'm not ruling out ivory BTW but I love the green.

I only have one adult bridesmaid which is MOH. Then 2 teenage bridesmaids and 2 under 10 flower girls. So I'd quite like them all in the same colour even if the shade doesn't match.

Yes, much better! Love the simplicity of that dress, it’ll let yours shine. It’s also really beautiful shape for teenagers I think, perhaps with a cute cardi or wrap if needed.

MrsMoastyToasty · 03/09/2022 21:49

How a slightly darker shade of sage green, not so "washed out", for the bridesmaids?

Largethighsbadeyes · 03/09/2022 21:54

I like the "washed out" pale sage. He darker ones all look a bit more mint to me. They've all seen it and like that colour too. The dress above was MOH choice so she will be happy!

I am going to look at Ivory dresses for them as well. Although by MOH is absolutely stunning so if I stuck her in an ivory dress she may upstage me a little 😉
