So I fell in love with the most gorgeous of wedding dresses and managed to get it for a bargain in the sale but since having my baby it just doesn't suit me! Or my new figure or visible stretch marks and I'm heartbroken!! I've got a year to save and find a new one but I've spent so much money on this one 😭😭😭 my mum says I'm being a bridezilla but I just don't feel comfortable in it 😞 it's gorgeous and it looked amazing when I first tried it on but the new me just doesn't suit it! I'm back roughly to my prebaby size with lumps and bumps as a bonus so I just can't stand the style on me anymore. Is it worth trying to sell or am I stuck looking at a dress I was once in love with but will never wear forever?

I HATE my wedding dress now I've had my baby!!

Your body will still change a lot in the next year. How old is baby now?

Can you try it with some really good underwear and see how you feel.

TheWitchwithNoName · 22/05/2019 21:16

Have you tried different underwear?
Maybe one of those underdress things that can smooth bumps?

Hollowvictory · 22/05/2019 21:16

How will anyone see stretch marks in that dress?

MissMoodyMoo · 22/05/2019 21:19

Baby is only 12 weeks so I know my body will still change in time with alot of hard work but I'll never have a flat belly again and I feel like my belly just pokes out of it even with shapewear. Not to mention the horrendous stretch marks all down the back of my arms 😓 I know it's a year away but I am beyond stressed

What time of year is the wedding ? I wore a bolero. Mine was satin and I used it to cover my upper arm tattoo.

This is not me btw, but similar or you can get lace ones

Why will your belly never be flat again? You’ve got a whole year!

Hollowvictory · 22/05/2019 21:32

Pregnancy stretch marks on your arms?

BogglesGoggles · 22/05/2019 21:34

A lot of women look like supermodels after giving birth. This idea that mothers are lumpy and grunt is very British. No one believe that I have two children. They just have low standards I think.

MissMoodyMoo · 22/05/2019 21:35

Yes pregnancy stretch marks on my arms 🙄🙄🙄 it's a thing!!

MissMoodyMoo · 22/05/2019 21:36

That's great for you boggles 😊

BogglesGoggles wow. Gorgeous, skinny, modest and helpful.

Didn’t you just hit the jackpot? Hmm

sarahC40 · 22/05/2019 21:46

Shh Boggles. Get back to your exercising.

Hollowvictory · 22/05/2019 21:49

I'm still mind blown about the arm stretch marks. Not getting it. But anyway the bolero idea is a good one or could you get lace sleeves added to the dress?

LynetteScavo · 22/05/2019 21:56

Anyone who puts on weight quickly can get stretch marks anywhere. I've seen arm stretch marks on several men as well as women. I dint know what's so hard for people to understand.

Some people bounce back into shape after having a baby, many don't - there are some really unkind comments in this thread!

OP I think you bought your dress to early. You've still got time to see if you want to wear it, or if you want and can afford another dress. The one pictured is lovely.give it six months and see how you feel.

tigerbear · 22/05/2019 21:58

Be less harsh on yourself, 12 weeks is hardly any time at all in the grand scheme of things (despite what a certain previous poster may think!). I can totally understand why you feel as you do now, it’s normal to feel that your body will never get back to normal, but It can and will!

I remember going shopping for nice lingerie about 6 months after having my DD, and just despairing - my boobs were totally saggy and my c-section tummy looked awful. BUT I hadn’t done a scrap of exercise (and didn’t for ages).
If you start exercising regularly now, you could def be in shape in a year, easily.
My body is better now - having exercised a lot in the last year or two - than pre baby.
Good luck.

picklemepopcorn · 22/05/2019 21:58

How about sussing out other dress options, and seeing what you could get for your dress if you sold it on? Then you'd have a realistic choice to make.

You aren't being bridezilla, you just want a dress you love. You may still love this one though- give it time.

tigerbear · 22/05/2019 22:01

I missed the bit in your OP about already being back to your normal size! That’s great, so it’s just a case of toning up, strengthening and tightening your muscles, especially around your stomach and core.
The dress will fit much better if you tone up, even if you don’t lose any more weight.

MissMoodyMoo · 22/05/2019 22:08

I had sepsis and preeclampsia so within a week my full body had swollen up leading to extra stretch marks (even on my feet) I had a c-section so have the dreaded c section pouch as Well as split abdominal muscles I've been seeing physio about that and he has said they aren't likely to go back together 😭😭 i definitely bought my dress too soon but wasn't expecting my little miracle baby ❤

Give it another 6 months. just leave it.
Even livid purple stretch marks can just disappear as fast as they appeared.
Your body is going to completely change again in the next few months.

Just leave it and if you put it back on in 6 months and still hate it, you can get a new dress from RK bridal in new york in a few weeks. They ship.

Congratulations on your baby. Enjoy this bit and forget about the dress for a few months before you rush off and buy another.

You can sell it afterwards.

MissMoodyMoo · 22/05/2019 22:10

I'm thinking I need a more skirted/ princess dress rather than a fitted body one as my confidence isn't what it use to be

moreismore · 22/05/2019 22:14

A little off topic but have a look at myfitfamilylife on Instagram for separated ab safe exercises. It’s a really good and very positive account.

moreismore · 22/05/2019 22:15

Btw you need a dress you love. See if you can sell yours on preloved and start again.

ElfishBiatch · 22/05/2019 22:25

Your stretch marks will fade massively in a year. Mine had almost completely faded by 6m.

candycane222 · 22/05/2019 22:25

I agree there is no rush, please don't upset yourself about it. If in six months you still don't love it, then you can find one you do love. Enjoy your baby: your body is, clearly, miraculous to have produced LO, and you will have a wedding dress that celebrates that miraculousness - it's just too soon to know which dress that will be!

marywinchester · 22/05/2019 22:26

its a beautiful dress, how does it do up at the back? could it be altered to do up differently so it then fits/hangs differently? looking at the front it doesn't look like there's much seam allowance to let it out and i can't see if its a lace overlay or lace attached to the dress in small pieces that could be moved if there was seam allowance.
