Juat that really. I had a dress, a beautiful silk one, but my boobs wont cooperate. It wasnt a proper wedding dress just an off white dress i had loved and worn once.
So now, i need a dress, im not a dress person. Would like something i could wear again, under £100. Idealy a plain solid colour, no patterns. Doesnt even have to be white. I have been searching the net with no luck.
I have broad shoulders? And a huge chest. We have decided to keep qiite about it untill we send invites out and even if people knew, i dont really have anyone to go dress shopping with. Apart from my mum.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Im sorry about the typos, i have nail extensions on atm that make it difficult to type.

I came to suggest the Bravissimo too
www.bravissimo.com/products/heidi-maxi-dress-blush-pd736bls/ Also the Heidi.

How about an idea of colour Time and we can narrow the search down.

TimeForMy10thCuppa · 10/03/2018 21:07

bravissimo one is beautifull. Saved link to my phone. Thank you.
Im terma of colour, i would say not white. I wear mostly black. OH isnt keen on a black dress though.

Im not making this very easy am i?!
If it helps, or makes any difference, OH will be wearing a black suit. Waiting to buy shirt and tie till i find a dress. I have dark hair with very tanned skin.

If you usually wear black how about navy? That would look lovely.

DBoo · 10/03/2018 21:18

What about something like this?

DBoo · 10/03/2018 21:20

Oh actually dark skin and dark hair I would go for jewel colours emerald green, purple, deep red. Any of those would be gorgeous.

EnriqueTheRingBearingLizard · 10/03/2018 21:21

I was also going to say that you could carry off blush pink, but navy would be a chic option.

Do you want some length or not?
This kind of fit and flare shape could be an option if you don't like your stomach area www.debenhams.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/prod_10701_10001_62575+YM90317_-1
Weddingy but not weddingy, comes in blush or green options.

DBoo · 10/03/2018 21:26

Virgos lounge have some fantastic jewel coloured dresses.

loulou82 · 10/03/2018 21:28

Get some spankx that will hold you in and make your feel amazing and then something fluid like this that will drape and hang in all the right places, get an amazing strapless/backless bra from bravissimo. I am 36F and the ones they do really are great.

You mentioned that you're feeling a bit big at the moment. I have no fashion advice, but do get a dress that fits you as you are now, not as you would be if you lost a stone - you will look so much better in it. I've seen brides who never did lose the weight they needed to for their dress, and it's not a great look.

TimeForMy10thCuppa · 10/03/2018 22:08

I like number 3.

What does everyone think of this?

Sorry, no idea how to do a nice neat link.

It's lovely! Sorry if I've missed it, is it long length you are looking for?

EnriqueTheRingBearingLizard · 10/03/2018 22:20

I think you may be looking for more bridal type than I'd thought.

How about something like this
www.davidsbridal.com/Product_long-mesh-dress-with-cowl-back-detail-f15933_long-bridesmaid-dresses

That's the American site but David's bridal are in the UK too. They'd offer you more colour choices as well as styles. Would try and find a location for you, but not sure where you are.

shakeyourcaboose · 10/03/2018 22:21

There's another site whose name I can't remember, but it does lovely 'vintage-y' style dresses, but more 50s style.

I know you said not white but....

TimeForMy10thCuppa · 10/03/2018 22:29

Im not too fussy about length. Id prefer to not look have my bum out but other than that, no real preferance. It does seem i am drawn more to longer styles though.

Thank you all for all thw replies. I am trying to reply and answer as much as i can. Truth is though i dont really know what im looking for myself.

Current top 2 so far( in no particular order) are the bravassimo one, i feel like it might sit well and fir my chest because ofsizing options. Deffinately could wear it again.

The debenhams multiway in coral. Deffinately would be able to wear again, could wear it in different ways. A hint of the same colour on OH and the DCs would look great, would especially suit the DS. Its not at all wedding dressish. Though i am worried about how well it will sit on me with it being a multiway.

Not offended at all @TimeForMy10thCuppa !

I like the Bravissimo one,
The multiway one might be good but I've seen them on bridesmaids and I thought they looked a bit weird and cheap to be honest. And weren't very flattering. I'd try and avoid those if you can.

TimeForMy10thCuppa · 10/03/2018 22:56

Darn it shake i now also love the coral one from joanie clothing. I also like the price.

I think my type is long, or longish, v neck, in soft pinks or coral. Easy to wear again ( not for everyday but maybe for an anniversary meal or something. ) plain, with no sparkles ( would prefer to add that through accessories if i needed too).
I seriously can not believe how helpfull you have all been. I went from having no dress and no idea of what i wanted to haveing 3 i love and lots of new places to look. Thank you all.

You are welcome! Remember you can order and return most of online shopping if you want to do comparisons!

NotMeNoNo · 11/03/2018 09:25

I would definitely go for a dress to wear with a normal bra with shoulder straps, get fitted for a lovely one, and you will get a better shape. Perhaps it's the shape of my waist, but I've never found a secure or comfortable basque or strapless bra that stays put.

DBoo · 11/03/2018 09:33

Interrupting for my own needs, is David's bridal a legitimate site, has anyone used them?

I am a bridesmaid this year and the bride is struggling to find dresses in the colour she wants. Very specific. I think David's was one of the site's she looked at but I thought it was one of those dodgey Chinese sites because of the huge discounts etc if anyone knows that it is legitimate I'd love to know so I can let her know. Thanks.

MrsFionaCharming · 11/03/2018 10:11

I had a Debenhams multiway bridesmaid dress, it was awful. Clung to every lump. I think they look great on people with models figures, but in the real world most people look better in something with some structure.

EnriqueTheRingBearingLizard · 11/03/2018 14:01

Dboo I can't vouch for David's Bridal personally but I do know people who've been to their shops.

www.davidsbridal.co.uk/Content_FindAStore_londonuke201en815

EnriqueTheRingBearingLizard · 11/03/2018 14:10

I think the more you look at, the more you can rule out what you don't want and then start narrowing down what you do like.

Personally I'd be very wary of the polyester and jersey types, they can be very unforgiving on even the best figures and the most important thing is that you feel comfortable and feel good, so I totally agree with Fiona

I'd also only buy from either a shop where I'd tried on, or somewhere I could be sure it would be easy to return if mail order.
