Where did you go and how long for ? X

We went to Florence for a week. It was in May 23 years ago so I can't remember how much it cost but probably the equivalent of about £1500 today. It was lovely.

If I was having a honeymoon now and was on a budget then I'd probably book a cottage in Northumberland - lots of lovely long walks and then cosy log fires.

inchyrablue · 30/10/2017 13:18

We went camping in the Lake District. It rained every day, we couldn’t cook in the rain and couldn’t afford to eat out. We laughed a lot though.

If we were doing it again renting a lovely cottage would be perfect.

wobblywonderwoman · 30/10/2017 13:19

We had a big honeymoon but I can would recommend Poland. Both Gdansk and Krakow are stunning

bluechameleon · 30/10/2017 13:19

We went to Switzerland for 5 days. It was lovely - walks, cute villages, mountain railways and cab!e cars, boat trips on lakes. Can't remember how much it cost but not loads.

FruitBadger · 30/10/2017 13:20

We went camping in Cornwall for a week, poured with rain and we came home a night early because of it but we had an awesome time and I have very happy memories Grin

PsychoPumpkin · 30/10/2017 13:21

Ours was cheap as chips... we didn’t have one! He took two weeks off work and we stayed home together.

BackforGood · 30/10/2017 13:21

We went to Bath for 2 nights. It was lovely.

Greaterthanthesumoftheparts · 30/10/2017 13:23

We went to Madeira. We didn't do it cheaply but you could easily. Air BNB for accommodation. Loads of cheap walking tours. The weather is fab and the scenery is gorgeous. Eating out needn't be expensive either.

We got married at the registry office in harrogate on a Friday morning, stayed for a long weekend while DD was with my parents. I was pregnant with DS at the time. It was December, so we went to Christmas markets, went into the Yorkshire dales for a roast, pottered around, and had a wonderful time.

In my experience - anywhere is brilliant if you've just enough spends to sit in a pub for an afternoon, go for leisurely walk etc. Anything you love doing together. I find for us it's not the money we lack, more the luxury of time to just sit and enjoy spending time together.

Long pub lunches, wondering around with no time limit, popping here or there because we can!

Hope you have a wonderful time wherever you end up OP!

7 days, Morocco, cheap as anything - only a couple of hundred a head with everything while we were there and flights included. Was the BA deal of the day when we got it - just did it on a whim and it was fantastic.

Ever since I stalk the BA homepage for deals and snap them up as and when I see them. "Where are you going this year?" is determined by what BA have on sale!

Jojoanna · 30/10/2017 13:29

We had two weeks off work and spent it buying things for our new home . Never lived together before so was very excited and still have warm memories of that time

Malta for 5 days. Was OK, should have checked DH read reviews of hotel which was not so nice. Malta itself was wonderful.

steppingout · 30/10/2017 13:33

We went to Madeira for a week and it was lovely - warm, beautiful island and very good food. We booked through one of the last minute holiday to anywhere sites and got a very good deal on a nice hotel.

DeadDoorpost · 30/10/2017 13:34

London 4 days. Stayed in a Travelodge.
To be fair it was last minute as I had so many problems trying to get a passport as my mum was born abroad and they needed so many pieces of evidence to prove she is in fact a British citizen (her dad was in the RAF and stationed abroad at the time of her birth) that we cancelled and booked London. DH will be making it up to us one day. Just got to decide where to go.

NannyOggsKnickers · 30/10/2017 13:36

We’re going to Bruges for the Christmas market in December for a long weekend. I booked it on Secret Escapes for under £500 with 5* hotel and Eurostar.

Scoleah · 30/10/2017 13:36

We Booked a Holiday a year away, then week later decided we’d get married just before and use that as our honeymoon! (Engaged 7 years Prior)

Saved, scraped and had an amazing wedding, then used our Holiday to Turkey as our Honeymoon, also had a free child place, so was a great bargain and had an amazing time! Grin

RavingRoo · 30/10/2017 13:37

Goa, 1 week, just over a grand.

Laska5772 · 30/10/2017 13:39

Last minute 5 day deal to Greece really cheap as we were also about to move house . Room had single beds. I cut my leg badly on underwater metal stake on first day.. it was 40c in shade but we had a wonderful time.. 14 years ago this year

SugarMiceInTheRain · 30/10/2017 13:41

Near Malaga, 2 weeks, hired a small car to drive around and explore further afield. DH's parents let us use their timeshare points for the apartment we stayed in and we booked really cheap Easyjet flights. Ate out for some meals, cooked our own food for others, had a lovely time.

YoungGirlGrowingOld · 30/10/2017 13:42

3 days in Cornwall. It was amazing!

WhatHaveIFound · 30/10/2017 13:44

We went to Paris for 4 nights.

We got cheapish flights (had to leave our wedding hotel at 4.30am) but had a good hotel in Paris who had champagne waiting for us.

catiinbo0ts · 30/10/2017 13:45

Amalfi coast

FurryGiraffe · 30/10/2017 13:46

We had a week in Tuscany in September- Easyjet flights plus cheap villa. It was our summer holiday and already booked. Then a few weeks before we were due to go we thought 'sod it, lets get married' and booked the registry office for a couple of days before hand.

PenguinDi · 30/10/2017 13:50

We haven’t had one, we might have a weekend camping next year or a weekend away but that’s it. Neither of us are bothered by the big traditional honeymoon.
