Tunisia. It was about 6 years ago though so pre the current terror situation.

We had seven nights only as dh is a TA. So it was a case of where can we go which flies on day one and comes back on day eight. Got a week AI 4* school hols for 300 quid each.

allegretto · 30/10/2017 13:54

4 days in Cornwall - lovely!

Mummyto3boys1984 · 30/10/2017 13:57

We haven't had a honeymoon yet, we've been married 5 and half years and im still holding out hope we will get one, one day. But with 3 kids and other commitments like work and family we just haven't had it

SheepyFun · 30/10/2017 14:06

Two weeks in Pembrokeshire in a cottage - we were both pretty tired from organising the wedding, and hadn't lived together before, so wanted time to spend together without feeling we 'had' to be out a lot seeing the sights; we could have afforded something more spectacular, but saved that for another time.

Teddy7878 · 30/10/2017 14:09

Costa Adeje in Tenerife in June. Think it was about £800 each all inclusive and it was a 5 star hotel.
My parent's had theirs in a cottage in Dorset and got amazing weather for the week

Haggisfish · 30/10/2017 14:11

Drove down west coast of Scotland -four days and cost about £500.

Westiegirl3 · 30/10/2017 14:19

We had 2 weeks in a beautiful 5 star cottage in the Lake District, it was 9 years ago now but I’d guess it cost us about £1200. Was pure bliss, and we had the most wonderful time

gillybeanz · 30/10/2017 14:19

ours was cheap too, we didn't have one.
just a simple wedding, quite cheap, just a meal afterwards and no reception.
For us it was being married not the wedding.
Just celebrated 25 years together and had a few nights in Amsterdam to celebrate Grin

MrsMarigold · 30/10/2017 14:20

My brother went to Malawi and stayed in a treehouse, they didn't have much money at the time. Bought fish cooked it over a fire.

Hastalamorte · 30/10/2017 14:24

Not had one yet! Only been 9yrs though. Will plan something for the 25th anniversary like gilly Grin

3 nights in London, sightseeing and going to see a show. Loved it.

Mrskeats · 30/10/2017 17:50

I’m on mine!! Edinburgh for 4 days. Prob spend about 500 quid in total.

ClashCityRocker · 30/10/2017 17:52

We did a week in a lovely lodge with a hottub and sauna.

So nice to just kick back and relax after all the fuss of the wedding.

SeamusMacDubh · 30/10/2017 19:12

BnB on Jersey

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 30/10/2017 19:15

We went to Bourton on the Water and stayed in a beautifully posh hotel. The best I've stayed in before or since. It was December 2000 and we had a wonderful time. Cold but lovely.

NHSparent · 30/10/2017 19:19

Lake district but in a lovely hotel. It was in the middle of winter and lovely snuggling in front of the fires, eating lovely food and just being together.

Nomad86 · 04/11/2017 16:17

We his ourselves away in a cottage in the Scottish countryside. We'd been on quite a few long haul trips while dating and renovated a house while planning the wedding. We just wanted a simple relaxing honeymoon that wouldn't cost the earth.

blueskyinmarch · 04/11/2017 16:23

We got married 32 years ago and all we could afford was a cheap cottage in the Lakes for a week. It was cold and damp and I got a chest infection so we came home early! Thankfully we have had some very lovely holidays since then.

museumum · 04/11/2017 16:28

Venice for a week. Avoided eating or drinking in main tourist areas. Small apartment, mostly just walked about and hung around. Not expensive.

Mumthedogsbeensick · 04/11/2017 16:33

We booked a holiday cottage for a week in the Lake District 2 days before the wedding and only paid £200. It was lovely and the owners left us a bottle of wine, posh chocolates and a wedding card. My DH particularly loved the full length bathroom window (not privacy glazed) and the fact he could ‘poo with a view’!

ShowOfHands · 04/11/2017 16:37

Scotland for a week. Stayed in hostels and went on a Haggis tour.

SleightOfMind · 04/11/2017 16:48

Rome for 5 days. It was wonderful. Both DH and I had been before but never together.
You’ll have the most amazing time however much you spend. It’s as a pp said, the luxury of uninterrupted time spent together is priceless.

MsHarry · 04/11/2017 16:56

2 weeks on the Amalfi Coast. We went half board in a nice hotel. Loved it. Can't remember the coast as over a decade ago but wasn't very expensive as it was June.
I like the idea of a cabin in the Scottish Highlands for a week in Autumn. Long walks, fires, wine and the usual honeymoon activities.

Nomad86 · 20/12/2017 11:12

Lovely b&b in Scottish countryside. We'd done a lot of travelling together and had planned a wedding whilst renovating a house. We just didn't want the stress of planning another big trip. Scotland was our first holiday together and we love it there. Just the two of us, walks in the fresh air, open fire in the evenings, catching up. Perfect. It doesn't have to cost a fortune to be exactly what you need.
