I'm a size 18 and 43. You are not too old to go to a wedding shop! I worried that and the assistants in the shop were very supportive and didn't rush me.

mrsBeverleygoldberg · 08/04/2017 11:11

The tea length dress I tried on was £445. The dress I bought was a similar price as my budget is small.

SouthWestmom · 08/04/2017 11:12

Op have you tried any other styles? These ones just don't seem very flattering and maybe that's what is making you unsure? Both of them make you look quite wide across the middle, which is probably not accurate at all.

Monsoon do some good wedding dresses.

plimsolls · 08/04/2017 11:13

2nd dress, white sash, two petticoats.

Perfect Smile

Astro55 · 08/04/2017 11:14

If you look on Lindybop they have coloured petticoats - maybe a red one will add a splash of colour under the dress?

You can also have made to order dresses

I prefer this one - I like the skirt detail

BrightonBelleCat · 08/04/2017 11:15

Hi Astro yes I bought a cheap netting one from eBay and going to replace with the lindybop one.

Beautiful Flowers .
I now prefer the white sash and one petticoat - your skirt looks like it has a dent or step in it with 2 petticoats.

imNew1985 · 10/04/2017 16:59

OP not sure how you're getting on - are you anywhere near Birmingham? I went to Resorts World today - it's a random outlet centre. They had a Phase 8 outlet with wedding dresses - worth a look?

TitaniasCloset · 10/04/2017 17:52

Vivien of holloway petticoats are far superior to the lindy bop ones, they are soft and fluffy and a pleasure to wear. The Lindy bop one I bought once was scratchy and a bit short.

BrightonBelleCat · 10/04/2017 18:01

I'm happy with dress and am going to order a jewelled bridal belt see how that looks. I got a really soft petticoat on Saturday from a retro shop near me looks a lot better. My mate is on hols at the moment so when she gets back will speak to her about making the sleeves more fitted.

TitaniasCloset · 10/04/2017 18:06

Brilliant. I really think the jewlelled belt will be lovely.

NapQueen · 10/04/2017 18:12

The second dress is way nicer, and I thik looks more flattering without the red sash. Could you add red into it another way? Maybe a red bouquet and a necklace with a ruby in it?

dailymailarecunts · 10/04/2017 18:33

Just wanted to say you look stunning in the second dress with the bra on - it totally changes the look of it. Love the shoes too..... and you made your dp croaky! Love it! You look amazing Flowers

IrnBruTortie · 10/04/2017 18:39

I think it looks beautiful. And if it made your DP all croaky, it obv does the ticket in Rl too! is does the ticket actually a real phrase? I knew what I meant but now it sounds wrong!

AllllGooone · 10/04/2017 18:43

I'd say no ribbon.
I don't like the shoes and wouldn't wear (eg) a red hair piece as I can't stand matchy-matchy.

It's a beautiful dress and you have a wonderful figure.

AllllGooone · 10/04/2017 18:45

I'm so late to the party Grin

Second dress is fab.

I like it with the red sash and red shoes!

Shockers · 10/04/2017 18:51

I think it's fab! I prefer it with two petticoats and without the red ribbon. I was about to suggest something sparkly at the waist, but I see you're already on it. I love your shoes, and think a big 🌺 would look beautiful in your shiny hair!

2014newme · 10/04/2017 18:54

Unfortunately it's unflattering and the fabric looks like cheap net curtain. I think you can find something much more flattering and elegant that makes you look a million dollars. This isn't it though.

2014newme · 10/04/2017 18:54

I mean the first dress'

2014newme · 10/04/2017 18:56

Now I've seen the second dress I still don't think it's the right style. The stick out skirts are not flattering.

Starlighter · 10/04/2017 18:58

It's not to my taste but it's a nice dress.

Well skirts like that do add volume to the hip area. Difficult to know if it makes you look bigger though without knowing your actual size.

Taking into account the sleeves, I'd guess you were a tiny bit older than the average bride.

Sorry, don't want to be rude, just want to answer your questions honestly! Blush

Starlighter · 10/04/2017 19:06

Sorry! Bit late with my post! Second dress much better! And you're not big in the slightest! You look so much slimmer in the second dress, incredible!

Don't be put off going to a wedding dress shop. Just to try on a range of styles for ideas of nothing else. But most have sale rails or sample dresses with some starting at just £100!

Waterlemon · 10/04/2017 22:52

So much better!

Dress 2, neutral sash, red petticoat, red shoes, simple single rose in hair, small white/cream bouquet oh and decent bra!

I wore a "longline" bra from Rigby and pellar under my wedding dress. It was a cross between a bra and a corset - basically it had a very wide band that came almost to my waist. It gave me a smoother silhouette instead of my usual lumps and bumps poking out of my bra strap!

PovertyJetset · 10/04/2017 22:58

The red sash just isn't right....

A jewelled belt will be lovely though. You could do red lips instead? Or have a bouquet of red roses.

Ohyesiam · 10/04/2017 23:49

I think the have and red sash looks stunning. Make sure you do the new way of measuring you for the bra ( leaning forward at 90 degrees) it has really improved my figure.
Cab anyone remember the band for the new way of brass fitting? It might be on the bravissimo website?
Anyway, you will be a stunner on this dress.
