Ok here with red sash. I can't do it up all the way as small child who was helping me had run off!

Love the second dress, either with red sash or not with first belt. It looks great!

ProlificPoster · 07/04/2017 17:34

I think you should go and try some different styles in and see what you think. The Phase 8 one is nice but I've a feeling a different style might suit you better. It is hard to tell just from a photo though.

I didn't even wear a new dress to my own wedding. It was a 50 pound Monsoon dress and I still felt fab. Not because I think the dress was the best dress for me but because I liked it and was happy in it. Sometimes it's better to wear what you like rather than the one that technically suits you the best iyswim. - if you want pouffy and 50's then go for it.

The red shoes have to stay though - they are fab!

BrightonBelleCat · 07/04/2017 17:35

Dp just walked in before I could shout fuck off. He got all croaky and said you look beautiful.

Xposted. The phase 8 one with the sash looks lovely. (I said it was hard to tell from a photo Grin)

AgainstTheOddsNo2 · 07/04/2017 17:36

The red sash Def helps.

But if you aren't happy what about something like this formal-c18/aleena-ivory-occasion-dress-p2099

tireddotcom72 · 07/04/2017 17:37

Have you tried Lindy bop? They do 50s inspired wedding dresses really cheaply and are great quality.

ProlificPoster · 07/04/2017 17:37

Yup
Phase 8 one with the sash and shoes. Boobs hoiked up and you hair done and you are sorted.

You will look lovely Smile

ProlificPoster · 07/04/2017 17:38

Lindybop always gets a mention but I'm not keen. I think their styles are often very hard to pull off. (Sorry Blush)

TitaniasCloset · 07/04/2017 17:43

I love the phase 8 one and I love the shoes. You definitely need better underwear.

Georgina Horne from Fuller figure fuller bust wore a similar dress for her wedding and style it with royal blue accessories. She is usually very friendly on Twitter and Facebook so will probably answer any questions you have if she has time/ sees your posts. Have a look at her wedding photos.

BrightonBelleCat · 07/04/2017 17:44

I'm bra less apols! Boobs deff need a lift

Lindy bop is nice but a bit cheap and better on younger women than me. I have a few of their things and they are hard to pull off.

House of foxy is a nice shop too and seamstress of Bloomsbury. But hard to get things in my size.

GotToGetMyFingerOut · 07/04/2017 17:47

I like the second one its far more flattering on your figure but I'd wear it with one of the actual embellished bridal belts and id still go to a dressmaker and get the sleeves altered so they aren't baggy and the bodice taken in so it's an exact fit.

AliciaMayEmory · 07/04/2017 17:57

The trouble with those style of dresses is that the waist had to sit in absolutely the right place otherwise it looks strange, and unfortunately, the waists seem to be really short on many of them, which is what makes them look little-girly. Both dresses were lovely, OP, but I think that the waist is too high, which is what makes it look like it doesn't quite fit. May be see if a seamstress can alter it to make the top more fitted as, I think it's making you look wider in the body that you actually are.

notadutchie · 07/04/2017 18:33

If you're not wearing a bra then having one on will change how it looks quite a lot. I see what PP means about the waist, but think with a sash it should cover that. However, important to make sure the sash covers the waistline and doesn't sit above it, so final sash may need to be a bit thicker.

I like it with the red sash (again). And think the skirt is v pretty.

70ontheinside · 07/04/2017 18:59

Much better with the red sash, and already less crumpled!
Try it on again with a great fitting bra and take another pic. The sleeves look a bit baggy at the top, but that can be fixed.

isadoradancing123 · 07/04/2017 19:10

Think the second dress is more flattering on you

BrightonBelleCat · 07/04/2017 19:12

Will go and get properly underwear fitted I think that will change everything

brickinitIam · 07/04/2017 19:13

Why are you trying the dresses on without a bra?

A bra will make such a difference.
I love the second dress by the way, it really suits you.
Can we see a pic of the second dress with you wearing a bra? (that sounds weird Shock) I bet it will fit perfectly.

Waterlemon · 07/04/2017 19:17

I really like the 2nd one on you, but if you're not sure then it's not the "one"

Are you anywhere Brighton? I have a dress from here (not a wedding dress though) and I feel amazing in it! Mine was "off the peg" but even a one-off made to measure dress you could get in your budget.

Only because I don't have a strapless one. Will update tomorrow we all stink of BBQ and I don't want to risk it if I'm sending it back!

Get yourself a decent bra before you try on anything else.

I took MIL shopping last year for Grandmother of the Bride outfit, and found something she loved in very first shop. But it didn't fit right so woman in shop was going "we can take it in here and lift the shoulders there..."
I insisted MIL come to John Lewis with me and we got her a couple of new bras and went back to try on dress again.
Fitted perfectly apart from length!

You risk being put off something that could be marvellous on you because your boobs are not in the right place!

Waterlemon · 07/04/2017 23:05

Is that a red petticoat behind you? That would look amazing! Or even just a white/Ivory tulle petticoat would look great!

BrightonBelleCat · 08/04/2017 10:23

Morning campers. Here we are with bra, slightly wider white sash and one petticoat underneath.
