Got it down to 3 dresses... Help me choose!

I 'chose' a dress on Saturday, but I had an appointment at a different boutique today and because I like to make life difficult for myself, I went along.

And of course I fell head over heels in love with not one, but two beautiful dresses. I need a few completely objective opinions! If it helps, I'm 5ft 5-6 but will be in heels, size 8-10 with big boobs, long dark hair, fair skin.

Dress 1

Pros- lovely swishy skirt, I wanted something with a bit of swing and sway when when I walk. Nice thick beaded waistband which, with the cut of the bodice showed my figure off nicely.

Cons- exposes back fat, and cut quite low at the front (I have big boobs). Would have to have my hair up and my hairline on the nape of my neck is quite ugly. Needs an underskirt to give it a bit more of an a-line shape

Special something- lovely keyhole back and beading across the shoulders

Cost- £1180 (before alterations) and extra £80 to have buttons all the way down the skirt

Dress 2

Pros- beautiful elegant, classic style, makes my waist look tiny, fits really nicely across the bust. Cut low at the back so I can have my hair down. Lovely big (but not too princess-y) skirt with a gorgeous train.

Cons- more of a ball gown so less movement in the skirt. Nothing really 'different' about the actual style. Would have to buy a beaded belt separately. Could look a bit OTT at the reception venue which has quite a relaxed, fun vibe.

Special something- really gorgeous blush colour and buttons all the way down the back.

Cost- £1899 for a new one, or I could get the (size 14) sample I tried today for £895.

Dress 3

Pros- swishy skirt again, covers boobs without looking conservative or matronly. Back is covered but fabric under beading is sheer so you can still see my skin.

Cons- cut across the shoulders so arm movement would be a bit restricted. Beading would catch on the veil and other people's clothes. Would have to have hair up.

Special something- that gorgeous beading, catches the light and twinkles whichever way you look at it. Sparkly without making me look like a Christmas decoration.

Cost- £1580.

So... any thoughts?

I don't get strapless dresses. As far as I can see, to carry one off you need to be slim with great tits.

1 is nice enough, but it's hard to see how you could wear it without a bra and it's a little Vegas showgirl for a wedding.

3 is beautiful.

eurochick · 14/11/2016 22:21

3 is stunning.

Landoni112 · 14/11/2016 22:22

3 is the one with the most class.
What are your bridesmaids wearing? Which would go best with their dresses?

WanderingNotLost · 14/11/2016 22:25

Albert luckily I am slim with great tits (if I say so myself!)

Dress 3 is in ... skip to 0:52

I think they're all beautiful, but if it were me choosing I'd be inclined to edge away from the lace/illusion neckline because it's so overdone.

Which one did you put on and not want to take off? Because that'll be the one. It's all about how it made you feel in it. You should feel comfortable, yet beautiful and excited. You should put it on and not be able to wait to walk down the aisle in it. You should never want to take it off or stop looking at it. That'll be the one to choose. If you don't feel that way quite yet, you haven't found it.

Also it looks easier to wear. Shoulders included rather than spending the day hiking up the dress.

Goldengirl42 · 14/11/2016 22:26

I love 3 - it's gorgeous. I'm not sure strapless works with big boobs. Which one would make you feel disappointed if you didn't get to wear it?

SquirrelPaws · 14/11/2016 22:26

I prefer 3. Mine was a Justin Alexander and it was fabulous.

Where are you getting married? 1 shows a lot of skin, might not feel quite right if it's a traditional church wedding, although it is beautiful.

HarrietVane99 · 14/11/2016 22:27

I'm not a fan of strapless wedding dresses, and 2 is cut very low at the back, too. 1 isn't as nice as 3, IMO.

Congrats!

longtermsinglemummy · 14/11/2016 22:29

1 or 3. With boobs maybe 3.

MadameJosephine · 14/11/2016 22:30

Definitely number 3, it's gorgeous

Number 1 is pretty too but I prefer the neckline of 3

Number 2 just doesn't seem as special

Were you trying your actual size, or shop sample with bulldog clips? If the latter, then I would avoid strapless, I loved mine as a sample, but it was really difficult to alter I'm such a way that the bust looked nice, and in hindsight, I wish I'd had straps added as it made my boobs look saggy.
My personal favourite is number 1, but 3 is lovely too!

Lovelybangers · 14/11/2016 22:39

I like no 1 too.

Strapless no.2 is nice but I don't think strapless with boobs works. A bit dates now imo.

WanderingNotLost · 14/11/2016 22:41

I'm getting married in a church- it's the oldest church in London so it's very atmospheric with amazing pillared archways and high windows. The reception venue is a sort of bar-pub-restaurant so it's got a much more relaxed feel to it, as opposed to somewhere like a ballroom...

Deffo want a veil, not the face-covering kind just a plain cathedral veil. The one I tried today was perfect.

I'm not keen on 1. 2 is lovely but a bit like lots of other dresses out there. 3 is stunning.

acornsandnuts · 14/11/2016 22:46

3 is memorable. The other two not so much.

FlossieFrog · 14/11/2016 22:46

My favourite is number 3.

When are you getting married? 1 and 2 look a bit chilly and very busty!

So many beautiful dresses!

PutDownThatLaptop · 14/11/2016 22:48

I love dress 2 and the fabric on the skirt looks so floaty. Love the colour.

minipie · 14/11/2016 22:48

I'm clearly in a minority of one here but I like 2 the most!

I like dresses that show off the bride rather than the dress iyswim (and so usually that means quite plain styles). 3 looks far too fussy to me, almost frumpy, and 1 is lovely but sounds like it doesn't fit well (don't get a dress that gives you back fat!!). From your OP it sounded like 2 fits you best and felt most comfortable to you - no worries about beading catching etc.

Also if you buy the sample you can use the money saved to buy some amazing accessories (like jewellery or a beaded belt - or you could even have a removable lace/beaded shrug made to go over the top - that's what i did).

WanderingNotLost · 14/11/2016 22:50

Wedding is in July so hopefully being cold won't be a problem!

#3 looks just amazing in the video. I loved it before but even more now I've seen it move.

A cathedral veil doesn;t have to have beading all the way round, or beading at all.

#1 makes you feel like you have back fat and there are nork-escapage issues. That's not going to work. There may be similar dresses that do, of course.

#2 is frankly dullesville. Identi-bride. There are always fit issues with strapless and significant frontage.

ontologicallychallenged · 14/11/2016 22:50

I like 2 the most but 1 is also OK. 3 looks cheap.
