I don't do dresses but this is the least hideous of the ones I have seen, thoughts?

I have literally not worn a dress since I was 3 so choosing a dress for my wedding has proved difficult!

I don't want a traditional dress so looking for something that I could potentially wear again and I want something funky but not over the top IYSWIM.

The other issue is that I'm a size 16/18 at 5ft 3.5ins and have chunky bum, thighs and legs so I have not got a clue about which style I should be looking at. Help?!

Is this hideously unrealistic for me to pull off or is it totally inappropriate for starters (I prefer the black one).

The black one is slightly less awful. But only slightly.

What would you normally wear, and feel amazing in? I'd start from there and then find something extra special like it, rather than starting at the point of it having to be a dress.

Budget is erm £100 maximum as it'll probably never be looked at again. I dislike anything girly (dresses included!), I like funky Gothic type stuff.

I normally wear jeans, vests/t-shirts, long hoodies with vans or cat boots...

I think the main thing is you have to like it and feel amazing in it.

I think there are lots of nicer dresses than that one out there! I really think, with your size and shape, you should steer clear of skater style dresses for a start! Not flattering at all.

Don't feel a dress if you know you won't feel comfortable. Where the best thing you'd like to wear for the day, if that's a pair of nice jeans and a rock shirt or a smart suit, do what you like. I know so many brides who look at their wedding photos and don't recognise the woman stood I'm the middle of all these pictures!

Hmmmm. Its a short skater style prom dress. Its very 'young' and I wouldn't say that flattering for a short, curvy figure.

Why not just not wear a dress? I'm making a wedding cake this week for a couple and the bride is wearing leggings and a beautiful lace/ embroidered tunic.
It's your wedding, wear something you will feel amazing in.

I would like to find a dress for the day (although I have no idea what I'd wear otherwise!) just to look nice for that few hours. DP wants to wear a suit so casual is out and I don't really "do" smart either.

Right so you normally cover your legs but wearing vest tops means you are happy with arms on show.

What about chest area? I don't mean norks out, do you usually wear vest tops that come high up or not, and by vest do you mean tank vests with wider straps rather than skinny straps?

Would you wear a corset style long dress? Do you want to wear a light colour or do you usually wear dark colours?

You do not want to feel weird on your wedding day so don't wear something out of character.

My own sister threatened to wear doc martin boots down the aisle under her floor length dress and I wish she had. She put on some strappy sandal things and wished she had worn the docs. White, not cherry! My Mum was happy though

I probably got my styles mixed up tbh, I am generally of the what would now be considered skater/emo type I think.

I am 27 and so far have been happy in my jeans and various tops but feel I should smarten up for one day at least (for my own benefit though, DP doesn't care :o).
