Because I can't find the bloomin' Weddings topic!
I'm getting married sometime next year and I have no idea how much anything costs.
So go on how much was yours? Grin

Mine was a Jenny Packham. I can't find a picture on my phone because her website doesn't seem to work. It looked a lot like the dress that model got married in, what's her name... Kate Moss!

But I got married first!

Mine was £800 5 1/2 years ago. It was by Maggie Sottero and it was stunning, with veil, tiara, under skirt and hoop and alterations it cost £1300 and I looked and felt amazing. Even my FIL was in tears when I walked down the aisle because he said I looked so lovely.

£49.99 in River Island. Gorgeous short cream lace dress - still wear it occasionally

glastocat · 21/08/2012 19:46

Mine was 110 quid in 1996. It was a red velvet mini suit from Wallis (Xmas wedding). I loved it, never wanted a big frock, tbh they all look the same to me.

£200, in 2010. It was a second-hand Alfred Angelo one which would have cost about £1,000 if I'd bought it new. My MIL and her friend did the alterations. They got me to wear it and then stand on my MIL's kitchen table while they chopped two inches off the bottom. It was nerve-wracking (for them) and bizarre and hilarious (for me) Grin

Spent about £700 on the dress (Alfred Angelo), about £90 on a tiara and had a bolero made for about £30 as the wedding was in winter. I will never, ever wear or buy anything like that again - I don't wear dresses and I just felt like this was the one time I would look amazing and be the centre of attention, so I went for it!

I found this small independent wedding/prom/suit hire shop run by a family and I was quite scared as the lady was very loud and flamboyant, but so lovely and nothing was too much trouble. Was a bit worried when she was going to ask her son to do up my corset the first time I visited as she sometimes struggled with her hands hurting, but by the end I didn't care a bit - they made me feel totally at ease! I loved going there and meeting with them

£360 from Debenhams. The veil though cost 50p for an offcut of fabric which I then hand stitched.

Calabria · 21/08/2012 20:22

Hand made old gold silk dress, boned bodice and small fish tail hem, and jacket with very full organza sleeves. £95, which was the cost of materials, I made it myself with the guidance of a couple of dear friends.

The tiara was a gift from my mother-in-law and I avoided a veil despite my mother-in-law Grin

£1300, 11 years ago. my lovely, lovely Mum bought it for me. She came shopping with me and I was all set to buy myself a £200 dress that I liked when she made me try one on that she she'd seen me look at and that she also thought was lovely. I putit on and instantly fell in love, but decided that it was cerazy money and I'd be practical and buy the cheaper one. She went and advance paid for the gorgeous one whist I was changing back into my clothes.

£700 3 years ago Smile

NeverKnowinglyUnderstood · 21/08/2012 20:31

£630
First dress shop I went to was an episode from a bad comedy show,
I had to wear mesh over my face because I had mascara on and gloves so I didn't touch the dress.. they were SOOO rude very obviously looking me up and down and telling me that I should look at the dresses in "this" room because they are the "cheaper" range. Having asked what my budget was and I had already said that I was lucky in that I had been told to find the right dress and not worry about the cost.

Anyway that was 12 years ago, am sure things are much nicer these days/

80sMum · 21/08/2012 20:31

I hired mine for £40 in 1978. DD married a couple of years ago. Her dress was about £1,200!

D0G that poster has a lot of 'interesting' comments on threads this evening. Reported.

holler · 21/08/2012 20:35

Mine was £150 from Coast. Then I had to buy a maternity one (surprise!) which was about £400. I love it, and plan to get it altered into a party frock one day.
