Because I can't find the bloomin' Weddings topic!
I'm getting married sometime next year and I have no idea how much anything costs.
So go on how much was yours? Grin

£150 Cabury's purple satin. Like the purple one halfway down this page but without the sparkles and with a halter neck and train.

Viperidae · 21/08/2012 20:37

£300ish in 1983 which was a lot back then but it was gorgeous.

LackingNameChangeInspiration · 21/08/2012 20:39

£700, been trying to sell it for ANYTHING with no joy, so don't count on getting any of it back

ThisIsMummyPig · 21/08/2012 20:40

Mine was £100 from a charity shop - I looked fantastic in it - it was an Alfred Angelo one - so if you gave one to St Annes hospice in Eccles you made me very happy (and got them a good donation too)

Thank you

I bought mine three days before my wedding from the Sassi Holford sale (last summer) and cost £695 plus £100 for a matching lace shrug.

My original dress (which I changed my mind about four days before the wedding) was an Ian Stuart <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?q=ian+stuart+costa+rica&hl=en&sa=X&tbm=isch&prmd=imvnso&tbnid=l2r5MyehFH5chM:&imgrefurl=www.mariamodes.com/bridalgowns/ianstuart/2010/ian-stuart-costa-rica.html&docid=IYBJJpWSD3nzTM&imgurl=www.mariamodes.com/bridalgowns/ianstuart/2010/costa_rica.jpg&w=300&h=353&ei=MOQzUJeTGqP80QW354DoBQ&zoom=1&biw=1257&bih=658" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Costa Rica and cost £1135! It's for sale if anyone's interested Wink

I also ordered a 50s style one from Dolly Couture Beverlywood but it didn't arrive in time.

I'm so glad I ended up wearing the Sassi dress. It was beautiful (if a little large due to not having time to get it adjusted properly!)

£500 plus fitting costs. I was lucky I managed to fit into a Temperley sample otherwise the cost would have run to a couple of thousand (and therefore been vetoed).

marriedinwhite · 21/08/2012 20:48

In 1991 it was about £700ish. It was a Ronald Joyce one. One of the cheapest in Harrods. It was much less than that off the peg, but I had it made to measure and had the train "hand rolled". Once I had bought the shoes, veil, head-dress and underwear it came in at just under £1000 and I was very pleased with it all. Oddly - it was white Grin.

I would have paid double or more if I had found a dress I was happier with but that one suited me and felt comfortable and after much deliberation (the other contender was a plain silk dress with a fancy cropped jacked from Droopy & Brown for about £1200) and at least two glasses of champage my mother and I decided on the cheaper one!! We managed to lose the veil after the reception!!!

It's upstairs in my off season wardrobe, yellowing a bit because I never had it properly wrapped and packed in an extortionate box on the basis that it wasn't actually silk. I would love to get back into it Sad.

It looks lovely in the pictures and I look young Grin

Mine was £250 three years ago - then another £90 for a party dress to change into in the evening.
I've not worn either again, they're hanging in the spare room wardrobe and the party dress really needs to go on eBay.

EnjoyResponsibly · 21/08/2012 20:59

1999, £1,400.

Loved it, looks fabulous in the photos. It hangs in my cupboard and when I smell it, it reminds me of my wedding day.

SuzySheepSmellsNice · 21/08/2012 21:00

Mine was £350 from the local Oxfam Bridal Suite. It was brand new, beautiful and perfect, made me feel fabulous, and is the largest single donation to charity I have ever made! 100% worth it (and I can feel morally smug) :)

Novia · 21/08/2012 21:05

£2125 for my beautiful Jenny Packham dress which I wore in June this year (plus an extortionate amount on a JP veil). I loved it - felt like a goddess. It was the perfect dress for me. Luckily my wonderful mum paid for lots of it. Best part is that I get to wear it for our UK blessing soon! Grin

MrsLocog · 21/08/2012 21:05

A beautiful Maggie Sottero gown cost £900 in 2008. Paid for with some of the compensation money I got for the car accident Dh and I were in where a twat drove into us head on at 40mph as he was on our side of the road on a country bend. Felt lucky to be getting married at all after that so it kind of justified the extravagance!

happydotcom · 21/08/2012 21:18

£100 in sale from £899 !!

trumpton · 21/08/2012 21:21

£9.50 Laura Ashley milkmaid style in 1975 . " you will look like a pregnant bridesmaid " said MIL .

FadingAwayToAHippo · 21/08/2012 21:24

Free, I won it in a competition! Grin

can't wait to wear it in 7 weeks Grin Grin Grin

Halfawife · 21/08/2012 21:28

£2500 for a custom made dress from a local wedding boutique. It fit me like a glove! Loved every minute of the fittings process and felt great on my wedding day!

lovebunny · 21/08/2012 21:32

£114:95 in february 1978, susan smart in stockport.

I paid £ 120 for mine including alterations. It was 'officially' a bridesmaid dress with a halterneck in deep red perfect for my Christmas wedding. I made my own headpiece thingie from svaroski crystal.

I had originally ordered a different dress and when the shop owner kept calling to see when wanted it fitting I had to own up that I hated it. I told her that I was going to wear a LBD dress I had bought for the wedding party a few days after the ceremony (£40 in the Coast sale).

I did offer to pay for the original dress despite her insisting I didn't have to and when I went into the shop (two days before) saw the dress that Ieventually wore. She did the alterations there and then.
This was 2008.

VampiresGymAndSciFi · 21/08/2012 21:39

A lite over 2 grand Blush made to measure by Suzanne Neville. It was gorgeous but a lot in hindsight.
It doesn't matter how much you spend as long as you are happy and it is in your price range.

betterthannext · 21/08/2012 21:46

nothing it was my sil before me

LivingThings · 21/08/2012 21:47

My perfect dress was £300 in Debenhams (5 years ago) - when I went to buy it it was reduced to £150! It was exactly what I had pictured in my head asl my perfect dress and I still absolutely love it :)

reddaisy · 21/08/2012 21:48

That was very Silence of the Lambs of you BetterThan Grin What had she done to you that pissed you off so much?!

Gatorade · 21/08/2012 21:52

The best part of 2,000, worth every penny.

ExasperatedSigh · 21/08/2012 21:58

£150, for a Vivien of Holloway frock and petticoat. I knew I wanted something frivolous and fun because all the fuss about 'the dress' made me feel a bit ill, so it was ideal really - I looked good, felt great, danced all night and spilled red wine down the front and didn't care Grin
