Because I can't find the bloomin' Weddings topic!
I'm getting married sometime next year and I have no idea how much anything costs.
So go on how much was yours? Grin

£80 - but it was just an off-the-peg 50's style cocktail dress. We didn't do the whole big wedding thing though.

Mrbojangles1 · 21/08/2012 17:37

£500 it was vintage

McKayz · 21/08/2012 17:37

£235 earlier this year. It was a Tiffany Rose maternity one.

coffeeinbed · 21/08/2012 17:37

About £30 for material.
Someone made it for me.

ladymariner · 21/08/2012 17:39

£100 because I hired it, 20 years ago, it was brand new into the shop the day before and if I'd bought it it would have cost me £1000! No way was I paying that amount of money for something I'd never wear again, so I hired it and felt like a million dollars in it. It really was a truly beautiful dress.

Funnily enough, we went to a wedding dress exhibition in our local church last month and there it was!!!! Well, not sure if it was 'my' dress but it was the exact same one, and I got tears in my eyes looking at it. Took a photo of it hanging there to show dh Smile

Sevillemarmalade · 21/08/2012 17:39

£900 in 2008. The shop price (Pronovias) was twice that but good old eBay saved me the cash.

peeriebear · 21/08/2012 17:40

£30 off Ebay from Hong Kong. Not a wedding dress, just a pretty sort of dove grey party dress. Looked fab with my £5 silver gladiator sandals :)

Rainshine · 21/08/2012 17:42

About £2k and I bloody loved it. Still don't regret spending the money.

ColourMeWithChaos · 21/08/2012 17:42

My grandmother made mine for me - she was Italian and an absolutely beautiful seamstress.

She used some of the fabric from her wedding dress, the buttons from my mum's and some lace from my other grandmother's dress.

It was so perfect and she gave it to me as a wedding present.

I've kept mine and it is in our wardrobe still actually.

Ithinkitsjustme · 21/08/2012 17:42

£250, 16 years ago and worth every penny - even if I did have to lose 2 stone into it! Grin

NCForNow · 21/08/2012 17:46

I worked in a posh wedding dress shop in 1990....the most expensive dress was 1.500 and looked like a sort of Cinderella type thing...which was a tonne then. They told me to "Look out for how big the bride's "rock" is...if it's small, don't waste time on them..."

I didnt last long. It was AWFUL!

Mrbojangles1 · 21/08/2012 17:47

Basically op you can spend as little or as much as you like

My sil spent 3k on hers it was some massive poffy thing its just about the type of wedding your having we had a very vinatge tea party type wedding with only 40 people and big puff would of been out of place were as my sil got married in a castle with 790 people

My sister however is a bit ott and had a posh and becks style wedding and had some sexy thing with the sides cut out (god help her)

I would avoid going to a wedding dress shop until you have exsauted other areas unless you want somthing very teraditional

Fuchzia · 21/08/2012 17:52

About £125 when the $ exchange rate was about 2:1. From a huge out of town store in Boston which I shall ever think of as the 'bridal barn'. Think it would have been much more in a bridal shop in the UK.

Spenguin · 21/08/2012 17:58

Dress £3,500.

And I love it still.

Ambrosius · 21/08/2012 18:00

Lots of responses! Thank you! I have a better idea of prices now, had a look at all the links, such beautiful dresses :)

hoping to sell it actually as i dont have storage space. For a cheap price! in north-west.
size 12-14. message me if you are interested, although i dont know how that works yet.

this is my first mumsnet message, thought i would try a non-controversial topic first, so hello!

Ambrosius · 21/08/2012 18:02

Wow Colourme, that sounds like the perfect dress! Wish I had a seamstress in the family... :)

£59. I walked into Monsoon with the £250 to pay for The Dress and there was one left, in my size, reduced to £59.

Score.

PomBearWithAnOFRS · 21/08/2012 18:05

28 american dollars and about 6 dollars for the postage Grin It came from Holy Clothing.

BarredfromhavingStella · 21/08/2012 18:06

£340 + alterations so about £410 I think, this was 5 years ago & dress was very simple but gorgeous-didn't want a big faffy thing as I got wed in Cuba.

TheCountessOlenska · 21/08/2012 18:06

£700 - which seemed steep at the time and now (what with ebay, getting them sent from China etc) I just think what was i thinking Shock! It did look pretty fab though, I just regret getting ripped off by the wedding shop. The rest of the wedding was cheap as chips though - I think the total cost including the ridiculous dress was only a couple of grand.

InTheoryBut · 21/08/2012 18:07

£30 in the sale at Jigsaw, but was just a summer dress really, not a proper wedding dress.

But I have worn it every summer since (married in 2004), especially on holiday, and it always makes me smile.

Ambrosius · 21/08/2012 18:08

MrBojangles I can't wait to go wedding dress shopping! I need to see what styles suit after all!
Hello Riskit! Congrats on your wedding, hope you had a lovely day :) I don't think your dress would fit and I live near London anyway but thanks for the offer Thanks

£124 for mine, it was half price in the Liberty sale, not a wedding dress but a beautiful Ghost dress.
