Who knows....
Lifted index looks goodish for EA and SE according to gfs (lifted index is one way of looking how unstable the atmosphere is)

The honest reality is though that I have no idea where any storms will form, but if I figure it out I'll let you know.....

The other unknown is how far cooler air will actually penetrate. It looks like the south won't really cool down much at all. (apart from far SW)

Hot Saturday coming up! 30C in places.

Tomorrow's the school summer fair, so it looks like they'll have a good day for it (might be little too warm if anything!)
Will be interesting to see where any thunderstorms develop on Sunday. Looks like it's going to stay fine for next week as well (according to the lunchtime forecast yesterday.) Wimbledon might get a full 2 weeks without any rain delays (after all that money they spent on the roof over the Centre Court!)

OhYouBadBadKitten · 25/06/2010 15:46

Could you imagine Wimbledon without rain

OYBBK - I like your technical analysis. I am a weather obsessive!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 25/06/2010 16:04

Just looked at met office 5 day forecast for area and no rain is showed at all for Sunday. (or indeed in any of the 5 day period) for most of the south

Water butts are empty. Am sick of lugging watering cans backwards and forwards to the veggies so have told dd it is her job tomorrow to use the hose pipe.

Nice little line of intense showers in the ne giving rise to warnings

duckyfuzz · 26/06/2010 20:19

Just had a little shower here in NE sky is black tho!

mankyscotslass · 26/06/2010 20:20

It's so hot here, been dry for ages.

We will have a hosepipe ban here by Thursday apparently. United Utilities will have to priove to the EA that they have put in place measures to conserve supplies before they are allowed to take water from the Lakes.

nymphadora · 26/06/2010 20:27

Any chance of rain for theNW?

whomovedmychocolate · 26/06/2010 20:29

I would love some rain. In fact it feels like it ATM but nothing coming down.

duckyfuzz · 26/06/2010 20:35

Shower lasted 5 mins now its clear again

SwansEatQuince · 26/06/2010 20:42

Do you think it will stay warm, dry and sunny for the next three days in the Massif Central part of Scotland?

SagacityNell · 26/06/2010 20:52

it feels like it needs to thunder just to clear the air a bit. IYSWIM?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 26/06/2010 20:59

nymph - just had a look for the hosepipe ban thread. Unless you get the odd rogue convective stuff build up (at short notice) thenI'm afraid not this week I'm sorry. Maybe a bit of dampness mon night/tuesday day but not helpful amounts.

Swans, back in a mo.

swans its going to be hit or miss with heavy showers breaking out in the west earlyish tomorrow morning and moving across to central parts by late morning. Monday night lots of showers showing at the moment - fairly heavy too potentially. Sorry.

nymphadora · 26/06/2010 21:08

Kitten - just seen flash flood warnings for the NE what's that about?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 26/06/2010 21:11

A convergence line has set up in a line running n/s A line of heavy showers that may become electrically active perhaps. Won't hit you I'm afraid.

SwansEatQuince · 26/06/2010 22:01

Thank you OYBBK. I suppose the ground needs a bit of rain...

OhYouBadBadKitten · 26/06/2010 22:17

I hope Swans that the showers miss you.

nymph - it does feel weird, but if you think about it, its just thunderstorms without the excitment.

thanks ducky fuzz

OhYouBadBadKitten · 27/06/2010 14:07

Hows it going up there Swans? keep an eye on thursday - could be quite wet.

OP posts:
SwansEatQuince · 27/06/2010 14:43

Dh cut the end rigs this morning and we will bale them for silage. I don't think we can chance making hay but hopefully the hot weather will return?

It is odd up here today, sunny then cool but a very dark, weird looking sky.

Thank you for your warning.
