Heads up for those who like a good thunderstorm. looks like there could be widespread thunderstorms. (I'm not great at predicting them myself so am relying heavily on weather forums for this one) nothing too severe showing on the cards - maybe some hail.

I sympathise with people who don't like thunder storms - I didn't when I was young, but I quite like them now. I like being able to track them via the internet as well.

We could do with some rain here - we haven't had very much this month (what happened to April showers?).

I was just thinknig this has to have been the driest warmest april for a while!

We love storms in the Manky house, we plan to go storm chasing once the kids have flown the nest ...so that will be many moons from now!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 24/04/2010 17:17

cool Manky!

was an article in the Telegraph (by Philip Eden who knows his stuff) that usually very dry Aprils lead to rubbish summers. didnt really want to read that!

I think looking at the lifted index that chances are lower (but not gone) for storms.

bad day in the States yesterday - lots of tornadoes, killed at least 9 in mississippi.

Yes, not good about the storms in the US. I saw something somehere that thay ares saying F4 possibly F5 but they are still evaluating the intensity and scal of the damage so wont be able to confirm that yet.

Gawd how hot for next week? I am glad I got the sunblock for the kids yesterday, and have dug out their sunhats for school.

Showery afternoon in Somerset. Including one which pretty heavy! Typical as i was going to cut the front lawn!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 25/04/2010 18:08

thanks tortoise

looks like your heavy one is making its way across to the dorset/hampshire area

Only rain (so far!) in central Hampshire, despite some interesting little bits on the MetOffice radar.

I use www.isleofwightweather.co.uk/live_storm_data.htm for lightning data, but there only appears to be activity in the Lincolnshire area.

(DH went out to water the plants this morning, and had to process the empirical evidence that he didn't actually have to do that today .)

mankyscotslass · 25/04/2010 19:40

We had one very heavy downpour about 2.30ish, torrential rain, with a rumble of thunder, then nothing else.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 25/04/2010 20:23

lol! after all that!
