Hi all,
First of all.
Take Care out There!
Widespread icy conditions this morning. Looking out of my window I can see sheet ice.

warnings here for icy roads and heavy snow in many parts.

We had quite a lot of snow here in Bedfordshire yesterday, It finally stopped just before 3pm and the roads and pavements started melting quite quickly, although still snow covered on the grass.

Very icy this morning and it has got colder throughout the day, and it started snowing again quite heavily about an hour ago, with no signs of stopping.

Although the forecasts all said we'd get the rain, I guess we're in the rain to snow transition area

I love snow, but even I'm getting fed up with it now.

Badkitten I know this south/north rain/snow thing is going to last all week- will this be what we get all week?

NoahAndTheWhale · 23/02/2010 14:58

Also Bedfordshire - I think moonmother is to tbd west of me. Sleet/snow here, just in time for the school run

mankyscotslass · 23/02/2010 16:11

Still dry here (tameside), grey and dull.

mankyscotslass · 23/02/2010 22:00

And still dry!

moonmother - as we go through the week the snow risk (last time I looked) the snow risk will be confined to more northern areas.

Went to bed about 11, there was a very light dusting of snow. Got up this morning, nadda!

No sign of heavy rain either, and its grey and damp now. What a disappointment!

Hope today is a better day for you OYBBK.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 24/02/2010 22:40

thanks manky.

snow risk moved very rapidly from your area didn't it! oops!!!

will be updating in the morning with regards to Sundays potential storm.

Kitten Jst the person I was looking for - I am thinking of driving from Glasgow up to Dundee tomorrow, coming back same day...

Any ideas for weather?

bbc says heavy snow, but well, they arent very good at predicting yesterdays' weather are they

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Its snowed a lot today here but that wet that it hasnt actually "stuck" IYKWIM?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 25/02/2010 09:19

ermmm, Geordie. not quite sure, certainly there are huge amounts of snow in central and northern scotland. not sure how about dundee - perhaps the coast is protecting it. Could be an interesting journey!!!!

Weather? What weather? Nothing in the way of weather here, just grey and dull.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 25/02/2010 09:30

grey and dull here too. rain later. bah humbug.

It was an interesting journey...

Took me 2 hours to do 10 miles, main motorway (A9) was closed further up, so turned round (eventually) took me another hour to do the 10 miles home.

It was mental - no snow at all in Glasgow, 10 miles up the road it was over a foot deep - half way up the traffic cones.

Lots of accidents, lots of trucks stuck.

So pleased I am home in front of the fire!

mankyscotslass · 25/02/2010 14:31

Anyone know what the snow is like in Renfrewshire? round Inchinnan/Erskine/Bishopton?

geordieminx · 25/02/2010 16:41

Should be ok, I'm on the other side of Glasgow but we have none here, just seems to be North of Cumbernauld and high grond.

A9 still closed

OhYouBadBadKitten · 25/02/2010 20:16

crumbs geordie, well done for getting home safely after all that.

mankyscotslass from the met office:

Snow has been falling over many parts of northern Scotland throughout Thursday. 42 cm is reported to be lying on the ground at Aviemore late Thursday afternoon and an unofficial report gave a depth of 40 cm at Insch, Aberdeenshire, with 25 cm reportedly lying at Uplawmoor, east Refrewshire. However, where temperatures are a little higher, around the coastal fringes, rain or a mixture of rain and snow has been falling. Issued at 1740 on Thu 25 Feb 2010.

mankyscotslass · 25/02/2010 20:23

Thanks duckyfuzz

Interesting looking weather feature seems to have developed over dorset/hants way. Would be interested in any damage resulting from this one please.
