Hi all,
First of all.
Take Care out There!
Widespread icy conditions this morning. Looking out of my window I can see sheet ice.

warnings here for icy roads and heavy snow in many parts.

snow in the pennines/yorks moor areas this morning.

Bit pushed for time this am. Tomorrows dividing line as to which areas will have snow and which will have rain is hard to call I'm afraid. It looks to me as if central England will be worst hit. More snow for that region tuesday night and possibly wednesday.

Many will see heavy rain these next 3 days, some may see significant snow accumulations.

worth noting actually looking at met office warnings for wednesday, they have the snow risk as being in an area from the midlands up to southern Scotland.

Snow! About 4/5 cms!
The BBC website seems to have got its act together; yesterday it was saying we would have 'sleet' for Monday and Tuesday and now it says 'heavy snow' from Monday-Thursday!
Will have to keep an eye on the forecasts this week, this seems to be changing all the time.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 21/02/2010 11:24

It does Petunia, I don't think anyone really can rule out the chance of snow this week.

And after having been removed from the advisory area earlier, for tomorrow I'm back in it:

southern half of uk now

gah. I have 4 miles to walk (there and back) to an early gp appt and an outdoor meeting to attend. And dd goes back to school.

aaaaargh!!!!!

I love snow but really we've done it now. time for a lovely spring with flowers and veggies going in the ground and happy bird songs.

a good part of that warning area is for heavy rain actually. (which could be even more unpleasant)

its been snowing since 10ish here (NE) and my parents report a few inches in sheffield too, will it ever end?!!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 21/02/2010 12:47

Just lots of rain for the SW, we had a lot of rain thursday (roads were flooded when i took dd to gp's). I would be happy with snow rather than rain but also looking forward to Spring and warmer temps.

Yesterday we had rain, sleet, snow and hail.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 22/02/2010 16:07

How is everyone doing today? busy for me, so sorry not been on.

updated warnings

As well as continuing snow risk for many through out this week I think there will be a substantial surface flood risk for those in the south with continuing heavy rain.

Ok

tuesday - heavy rain in south in the morning moving north and increasingly turning to snow as you go further north through the day.

Wednesday - heavy rain in the south turning to snow further north.

thursday - heavy rain in the south, snow risk moves further north than mon-weds.

can you spot the pattern?!

Do you think I'll finally get to use the sledge I've been hiding from DD OYBBK?

I hope so , although with a broken foot maybe DD should just watch me

OhYouBadBadKitten · 22/02/2010 16:31

Quite possibly on thursday
though you must demonstrate safe usage multiple times!

mankyscotslass · 22/02/2010 16:43

It's been baltic here today, but mostly sunny.

I'm not convinced we will get anything but sleet or rain here tomorrow and Wednesday.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 22/02/2010 20:24

I think there is potential for you on wednesday in particular.

heavy rain in south continues to be something to watch still.

OP posts:
OhYouBadBadKitten · 23/02/2010 10:11

Next lot of weather is lying across the SW at the moment, parts of which are under heavy snow warnings.

Unfortunately it is looking like this pattern is set right into the weekend and beyond. If you are in the south and perhaps Wales and are prone to surface flooding I'd make sure that your sand bags are ok.

mankyscotslass · 23/02/2010 13:11

It was freezing here this morning, but I have just been out on the nursery run, and there is a different "feel" to the atmosphere.

I think slightly milder, more moisture. It's still dry though grey at the moment.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 23/02/2010 13:19

Thats interesting. you are in a warning area - would be interesting to see how it pans out.

OP posts:
OhYouBadBadKitten · 23/02/2010 13:20

(down here just more rain, 3C and a 4 mile walk. bleugh.)

OP posts:
mankyscotslass · 23/02/2010 13:23

Yuck for the rain, looking at the forecast I will have the school run in rain tomorrow!

Dh said it's been pretty wet down south where he is at the moment.
