Thanks Queenie and Fab - need to get to Gillingham, - one of the side roads off the main one that goes between Tescos and Chatham. Worth risking?

No.

It is snowing heavily again now.

Oh good. I shall pretend to work from home.

silverfrog I would have thought West Kingsdown will be ok tomorrow.
We have had flurries all day, but not really sticking.
Our school was open all last week anyway though, so I am guessing it will be open tomorrow.

Grumpypants - Right near me then! It's not snowing here at the moment and seems like it's thawing. However, if it gets very cold again overnight it will all freeze and the less used roads will turn into an ice rink like recent days. Might be worth working from home.

thanks blametheparents

I've just spoken to the school, and it is open tomorrow - yay! dd1 is overjoyed that she's going back, as am I

silverfrog - who is there on a Sunday? Which school is it? Initial will do.

It's a SN school, Fab, in Knatts Valley.

It's tiny, based at the proprietor's house, so I spoke to the owner/head

Hi All
Out in the middle of nowhere south of maidstone and the roads shocking near us - went to Fav earlier to do some essentials and MUCH better there - interested to know what like between Sutton Valence and Tonbridge though as need to go that way tomorrow!

It's snowed loads here (East Kent)

But today it's been thawing as sleet is coming down

Fabby some people have little choice but to drive, I didn't want to this morning but my parents wanted to see the kids as usual and I felt pushed into it

Luckily the brakes failed when I was going slowly, and we managed not to hit oncoming car...I really didn't want to eb doing it but have a hard time standing up to my mother, for some reason.

Are you still snowed in over there?

quick hijack

Seeker - you (along with Squiffy and others) gave me fab advice a couple of years ago about moving to Kent - we've been in Faversham since last May now and love it. So a belated thanks!

Looks quite slushy here this morning, ladies.

Snowed a lot last night again Seeker, you never know!

Flight - I meant idiots who were speeding and also driving to the shop when you could walk. We have had more snow overnight and are just waiting to see if school is open.

Report
FlightAttendant · 11/01/2010 07:22

Oh I see

Yes more here too but school intractably open so have got to get ready

Hope you have a good day.

I am certain ours is open. I think the Head would decombust if she had to shut again. There is more snow then last week but hey ho.

FatGirlThin · 11/01/2010 07:38

LOL! Head at dc's school the same. Off to brave the slushy roads

we had a little more snow last night, but doesn't seem to have made a difference.
ds's school is opening at 10 today, but not sure if he is going its a mile away which normally is fine, but not sure about how safe it is to walk that as the paths are covered in ice. I am going to go out n a minute to look at the roads to see if it is safe enough to drive yet. (I live in a flat so not easy to tell from up here what its like on the ground)

You're welcome, TheoldestCat. Trouble is, I'm going to be wandering round Morrisons now wondering "Now, is that TheOldestCat?"!

Report
Guimauve · 11/01/2010 20:44

Ooh, Morrisons in Faversham? I may have to go in there now and see if I spy anyone hanging around the Penguins in the confectionary aisle!

I once managed to stop an MNer in the hairdressers! I was sat next to her and now we go for cake on Mondays when we get ourselves sorted. We do need some sort of badge. I always get mildly excited when I find out an MNer is local to me.
