East coast here. Everything rattling around the garden. Willy weather says 32mph near gale winds 48mph gusts.
Not the world's biggest fan of windy weather so a little worried.
Phone weather app says starting to calm down around 10pm.

It's going to play havoc with some Christmas markets in the affected areas I think!

Tractor parade went well though! (W MIDs.) Was worth the trip out to see it.

Went into Asda and it was fine. Came out and really windy. Wasn't in there long!

Really blustery outside now. Last few trees will be shedding their leaves. (Silver birch)

BlackeyedSusan · 09/12/2023 21:47

It was flooded around Loughborough already on Thursday. It's going to be worse for them if this keeps up!

Pixiedust1234 · 09/12/2023 21:53

It's been the type of wind that creates the whoooooohooooo sound as it funnels down the side of the house. It's flipped over and danced with the shelter we some times use for feeding the semi feral cat who visits every now and then. I hope it's somewhere dry.

And when will it stop raining?!?!?

TokyoSushi · 09/12/2023 22:20

I just noticed that Ireland have named storm Fergus for tomorrow...

SingingSands · 09/12/2023 22:56

It's been foul here today in West Yorks. Our village carols in the park event was cancelled. It was the right decision, the place would have been a mudbath and the winds are too strong, just a shame as it's usually a lovely event and good business for the local high street.

ANightingale · 09/12/2023 22:57

Another one in W Yorks with wind howling.

@CrunchyCarrot i’m in Worcester too- we’re on top of a hill so camped inside else the 2 year old might blow away 😁

Also on a hill, it was incredibly blowy here! Up at 3 a.m. all is quiet, I guess Fergus will be along shortly!

eurochick · 10/12/2023 06:30

We are also on top of a hill (in Surrey). The wind was absolutely howling around the house here. I've seen a few branches down. Hopefully no worse damage to wake up to.

Well that was fun. Going out to retrieve the garden furniture once I’m dressed.

today’s storm looks less severe in the uk I think. We are off to a stately home set in landscaped gardens this afternoon, hopefully all trees are safe.

TheGirlWhoLived · 10/12/2023 20:57

@CrunchyCarrot hopefully it’s not the Malverns, can see them out of the window and they even looked blowy from here!
Fergus had died out by 2pm luckily but horrible before

As a matter of fact it is! It always howls up here and we face west, too. At least we got our roof tiles fixed before this!

justasking111 · 10/12/2023 21:27

Fergus is bashing at our windows tonight worse than Elin did last night

TheGirlWhoLived · 11/12/2023 11:24

@CrunchyCarrot as soon as you said hills I had a feeling. We had the kids swimming at splash on Saturday and decided against it! I did worry for the trampoline last night but all seems to be in the right place this morning

Trampolines have a mind of their own, don't they! 😂
