Wind is picking up on NW coast. Definitely a bit of a battering going on out there. Thankfully I don't have to be anywhere other than at my desk at home.

MrShady · 13/11/2023 13:54

NW and howling here. The idiot cat is trying to chase leaves from inside and keeps head butting the window

JaneJeffer · 13/11/2023 14:15

Ah ok thanks @OhYouBadBadKitten

HardHeartedHarbingerofHaggis · 13/11/2023 15:45

Hi all wild and windy in the Mersey area, no damage locally that I have heard. Opened all the windows to give the house a good blow through, it feels nice and fresh now. Nice to see the ground dry for once, hopefully it will help to dry out the soggy football pitches, the DC's are so fed up of cancelled matches due to unplayable pitches.

Psychoticbreak · 13/11/2023 16:24

I was completely oblivious to the storm till an email came to say school was going to be opening late but by this morning it was closed completely. Kids thrilled and not much damage done where I am thankfully but I know of places that lost power etc.

ListenLinda · 13/11/2023 17:13

It’s horrible here in West Yorkshire.
feels almost squally! Got me & the kids home as fast I could from the office, all trains running out of Leeds are severely delayed.
very thankful to be home and out of it!

We're on our second load of washing on the line (down the side return so it doesn't blow away)! Got to make the most of a good drying day!

I went walking today (north west) and felt like I was battling into the wind. Bins are being blown about but not seen trees down and it seems to have calmed down now.

Ratfinkstinkypink · 13/11/2023 19:06

I came home to a lovely surprise

Calmed down here so have risked putting the bins out 🙈

nannynick · 13/11/2023 19:19

@Ratfinkstinkypink Hope the tree didn't hit anything important on it's way down.
Is that a whole window ripped out of it's mounting?

OhmygodDont · 13/11/2023 19:35

Have to say we drove from the north of wales to the other side of England all in the warning zone and in wales the worst we saw was a few big sticks in the road and then the bloody m6 traffic once in England.

Was a few flooded fields in wales, plus the convoy but that was there all weekend just a bit wetter.

Ratfinkstinkypink · 13/11/2023 19:37

The tree has taken the fence but nothing else, the window has been ripped off its hinges and fallen from the first floor without breaking a single pane (no idea how!).

JenniferBooth · 13/11/2023 19:38

Windy here in North Essex Yet no weather warnings.

JenniferBooth · 13/11/2023 20:49

I get very nervous during this weather because...................we come under UK Power Networks.

MrShady · 13/11/2023 20:54

More wind here and driving rain now

They are pretty slow at fixing things. We where in norfolk in august and it took a good 8 hours to get us back up
with electric. The update system was terrible it just kept saying soon basically.

KitchenSinkLlama · 13/11/2023 20:58

I was nearly blown off my feet in Harrogate this morning and driving down the M1 was very windy this afternoon. Fortunately no real rain to add to the fun.

JenniferBooth · 13/11/2023 21:11

@OhmygodDont It took them 23 hours in Feb of last year. We are a huge housing estate in a town and we were all without power. They have been told by Government more than once that they need to improve And Priority Services register seems to just be a PR excercise. I saw a complaint from a customer that their idea of a priority service was to provide a cheap torch
