Placemarking, slap in the middle of the yellow warning in England.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 12/11/2023 21:27

Amber warning issued for County Armagh and County Down.

Storm Debi.

Some schools in Ireland are closed tomorrow or have delayed opening in the morning

Place marking

youwouldthink · 12/11/2023 22:07

UCD keep pushing back opening time. Currently 11am. Really should just keep schools and colleges closed rather than having to keep pushing back

OhYouBadBadKitten · 12/11/2023 22:14

There is a low probability of some extreme winds over western Ireland in the early hours. Take good care in that region.

Why do they always give them such random names?

DS's college are having no truck with 'unique' spellings and have let him know that the college will open at 10am because of Storm Debbie. Grin

I my mind the pronunciation is like Giovanni's at the start of this dance.

Nominated by the public in U.K., ROI and the Netherlands. Named for specific people. The storm is named after Debi Garft, a recently retired policy officer in the Scottish Government Flooding Team.

In red area here (Co Clare coastline). Ddog refusing to go out of the back door. Eerily calm actually. Reminding me of Ophelia.

Uh-oh. That's worrying. Mind yourself.

It's raining quite heavily here.

CliffsofMohair · 12/11/2023 23:09

Rain now! DDog on strike.

That's unfortunate and rather tactless

Debbie has already be used in for a hurricane that hit the island of Ireland, and still has the record for highest wind speeds ever recorded there; and which killed 12 people in the Republic and 6 in Northern Ireland.

Things are really picking up here, just in Yorkshire on the edge of the amber weather warning. BBC now saying gusts of up to 66mph for us, which seems a lot given we are in the yellow area.

FuzzyCaoraDhubh · 13/11/2023 10:58

We didn't get the brunt of it this time in Cork, but parts of the west of Ireland experienced a lot of damage. It was apparently very intense.

slavetothekittens · 13/11/2023 11:29

In a yellow warning area, wind is really picking up though, just had some flying debris hit the bedroom window hard.

Allfourwalls · 13/11/2023 11:35

It looks nice outside where I am, sunny blue skies, but very windy!

BobbinThreadbare123 · 13/11/2023 12:59

Cumbrian coast is being absolutely hammered by Debi. It's blowing a hoolie and chucking down with rain. It sounds like the roof of the building at work is about to fly away 😧

reesewithoutaspoon · 13/11/2023 13:05

NW uk watching the neighbours tree getting hammered ,part of me is kind of hoping it comes down as he doesn't maintain it and it blocks all my sun after 3pm . as long as it falls into his garden :D

justasking111 · 13/11/2023 13:06

North Wales a hoolie which was forecast. Went into town this morning which is on a seafront. The scaffolding from the last storm around the buildings is shaking. All the road warnings of closures are on the floor.

There's a glorious amount of leaves for the children to kick

LadyEloise1 · 13/11/2023 13:21

Very windy here in Dublin but nice and sunny.

Be careful with the Met Éireann link in that if you click on it tomorrow it will give any warnings for Tuesday. Funny way to do links that might be shared on social media.

No. Me too. I was pretending i did know because nobody else questioned it 😂

Very very gusty here in the East Midlands. The poor stray cat we are trying to grab for CP has been sent flying across the garden a couple of times 😥

Because it's not a dated link it will always return any warnings for the following day. So clicking on it today doesn't give you todays warnings, even though the storm is today. It will give you any warnings that are around for tomorrow.
