Absolutely gutted about the current state of the weather! Pouring down with high winds in mid July! It's so depressing!

This is definitely not normal! It's been so windy since March and hasn't reallly let up, not only has it rained non stop since then for the last 3 mths it's also unseasonably cold! I think if it carries on like this we're going to have a very bitter cold and miserable winter! I really hope not but something does not seem right at all. The worst Summer I've ever seen.

TheYearOfSmallThings · 31/07/2023 13:27

No, 2012 was worse - the wettest summer for 100 years. All my summer shoes were destroyed by the end of it, and I lost about a dozen umbrellas on my commute. It just rained and rained, whereas this year it is mostly threatening.

Counting down the days to escape the UK for a bit of sunshine and much needed vitamin d!

Thislife55555 · 31/07/2023 13:44

@Pandor wish I was too, it's so depressing though, we look forward to this through best part of 6-7 mths of crap weather and it's just been like one long early spring/winter, def not normal

isitaline97 · 31/07/2023 13:48

It's rained for a month non stop in Lancashire I swear 😂 I'm 36 weeks pregnant so quite enjoying the cooler weather though 😅

Thislife55555 · 31/07/2023 13:52

It's been like this for well over 6 wks, north midlands here, it's honestly getting me down so much, can't get outside as it's been heavy rain mostly too, I need to get out but the kid hates the rain and pushing a pram with a 4 yo is no fun in wind and rain. Back at work tomorrow looking fwd to another wet wknd, either that or fry in Europe 😖

Daftasabroom · 31/07/2023 14:02

It's called climate change.

Pandor · 31/07/2023 14:22

I’m sorry @Thislife55555 , I hope it gets a bit more settled soon. For many of us it is thought of sunshine in summer that gets us through what can often feel like a rather endless Autumn/Winter in this country!

Thislife55555 · 31/07/2023 14:31

@Pandor exactly! I am one of those people, it's really quite hard not having sunshine, but thank you! I just feel sorry for the kids too, it's not even warm, very strange, not so sure about climate change though. I watch Randall Carlson who did ice cores stretching back many 1000s of yrs who discovered that we heat up and cool down quite sporadically over hundreds of yrs, his view I believe being climate chnage being quetionable, no doubt the increased co2 in the atmosphere is not helping but he had proven this is something the earth does possibly due to a mix of procession and whatever the sun is doing, I think there might be more solar activity atm maybe affecting things too xx

Hello, I'm working on an online story for BBC News about the impact the extended rainy summer is having on families during the school holidays. On [email protected] if anyone would like to share. Thanks

MinimalistMe · 31/07/2023 18:44

I just read that the rest of the Summer is likely to be more of the same. Not hot spells expected

heartofglass23 · 31/07/2023 20:14

It's depressing.
