Absolutely gutted about the current state of the weather! Pouring down with high winds in mid July! It's so depressing!

It’s better than a heatwave

Its horrible. My dc both had outdoor events at school which were rained off. Can't believe it's July. Its pretty chilly in London today as well as the rain.

It's normal for this time of year

I was on holiday in the UK this time last year and it was boiling.

Solid heavy rain here since 9am this morning. It's forced me to do a shed load of house work so every cloud.

It's awful. I'm off to the theatre later, was opening to dine al fresco first. Never mind.

Fills up the water reservoirs, and is so calming to just sit there and watch the rain fall through the window, either with a cup of tea or a book - or both!

It's such a relief. Garden is happy, reservoirs are topping up. It'll warm up again.

Last year was an outlier.

The European Monsoon is normal.

As temperatures rise over southern Europe and the med, the hot air rises sucking cooler moist air in off the oceans.

Europe gets 60C ground temps, the UK gets wet and breezy.

Nah, not normal. It’s been constant grey skies, torrential rain or constant drizzle, fairly strong winds. I’m where it’s usually considered one of the driest and sunniest parts of England. Definitely not so this year. Feel like my remote is constantly stuck on “October” mode!

Yes it felt quite autumnal last night...popped out. It was pouring with rain, windy and actually really chilly.

Another here who prefers autumnal temps and moody grey skies with rain to unremitting sun.🍁🍂🕸@🌧

I can’t wait for a foggy morning. Leaves falling and conkers to be found.

But ....I have no young children and no need to occupy them for 6 weeks.

I'm loving the cooler temperature- sorry! Last year really tested me, I'm on the south coast and 30-40 degree temps were horrendous. Glad for a bit of rain after last years drought too.

It's always a fairly mixed bag isn't it? There's been some really warm weeks recently.

I find a crap summer follows a good summer. June was so nice and now this . So glad I’m going to Spain in August.

At least a lot of you guys have hope they it might change by the schools holidays. We're nearly half way through ours and this rain has been almost constant. So many days out that would have been so much more enjoyable if it were at least dry or not blowing a gale

Maybe for a day or two but not weeks of it thanks. I can soon have enough of gloom and being inside.

I'm gutted as well OP, I'm optimistically spending my afternoon sorting and cleaning all the camping gear so that when there's a window of calm I can shoot off.

I quite like it rainy as long as somebody else volunteers to walk the dog.

And rainy cold summers are indeed perfectly normal in this country - I say this as somebody who has been camping quite regularly over the years and had to come home early on numerous occasions.
