Warm Autumn

After the endless and very hot summer I was so looking forward to Autumn. Reading the BBC monthly outlook, it seems as though temps are going to be above average for most of Sept. Does this mean we could have temps of 20+ at the end of Sept/beginning of October?

In itself not worrying
As part of the bigger picture very worrying
But no one minds , most can't see the problem

It's nearly November and still too warm to wear a light jacket as well as it being double figures over night still. Definitely not normal.

My son asked to wear shorts today. I said don't be silly, then checked the forecast and changed my mind. Very weird.

We are running at +1.9c above the usual average temperature for October according the the Met Office CET. Hidden within that though is the very warm overnight temperatures.

So fed up with it. When is it going to be cold!!!

I'm getting grumpier honestly. Here we've got 23 degrees over the weekend but in the sun it feels so much warmer. 26 weeks pregnant and I cannot wait to put on my oversized jumpers and just be cold when doing the nursery runs / midwife and doctor appts and trips to the park. Wasps and mosquitos I've had enough of. I'm such a grump 🤣 I want my chilly autumn weather.🍂

Looks like it cools down next week here, but still in double figures.

Although a cool down is expected, a couple of the weather models are showing warmth returning mid November.

Helpful for fuel bills of course, but unseasonal and not following what we would expect for La Niña.

I hope not. Don't want it bone chillingly cold but would be nice if it actually felt autumnal rather than an extension of a forever summer.

I agree! Last night I walked outside in the dark in short sleeves. It felt very tropical and odd.

28c in Seville today. Europe so warm.

The water temp at our local lake has gone up to 14c! Last year it was around 9c by now.

OhYouBadBadKitten didn't you say the Outlook for winter looked cold? Has that changed now?

I hate the heat, but it was knocking 20 at coastal Suffolk today, certainly late teens, dry, no wind. It was some sort of ideal for me, although it is I know unusual for this time of year.

Absolutely, last night I was walking the dog and kids were letting off fireworks on the park, I could also smell a BBQ in someone's garden. Fireworks and BBQ's do not go together!

@justasking111 so is it unusual for Europe to be this warm at the end of October ?

Outlooks constantly change and winter covers a long period. La Niña tends to favour a front loaded winter, but it is one of many climatological factors. I wouldn't forecast winter on the basis of a couple of models that currently show a warm up mid November.
At the moment it doesn't look like a typical La Niña start though.

I'm just looking for hope it might get to below 10 degrees at some point 😭😭

Can't speak for all of Europe but I've been in Germany ten years and I don't ever remember 24 degrees at the end of October, in the direct sun it feels much warmer than 24.

We’re in the Canaries. Normally around 23-24 this time of year which is pleasant. It’s been nudging 30 the last few days. Trying not to complain that it’s too hot but we normally do loads of sport which has been trickier.

Really hot in London again. It's crazy

OH told me that I was stupid to say Bologna Italy was still hot in front of guests. So I sent him a picture. He hasn't apologised. I showed picture to guests

It changes next week. I’ll miss the tshirt weather
