Flooding likely. Eek. It was bad enough at the weekend in the mids.

It's been extraordinary as to how long this has been showing in the models. At least 10 days now.

Severe flooding is very likely in some places. We have a combination of torrential rain, snow melt, snow lever higher ground and very windy. Worst area is around the Peaks/Pennines.

I sincerely hope that it doesn't make it more difficult for people to access medical help or slow the vaccination program down. The system couldn't be timed more badly really.

At least it will keep all the Covid walkers at home and leave the pavements free for the dog walkers 😉

Or maybe the dog walkers could stay at home so those of us who walk every day (and always have done) don’t have to spend time at the end of a walk scraping shit off our shoes .

I live on top of a seriously high hill if I flood we dont need a grab bag we need an ark

That's a good question TheRuleofStix, even south of the warning areas will see significant rainfall and on top of saturated ground there will be flooding elsewhere.

Check the Environment Agency for local flood warnings. flood-warning-information.service.gov.uk/warnings They sound deeply worried on twitter.

two villages where family live/have lived are likely to flood. It is a worry for them.

South yorks here, under a flood warning atm but touch wood, our estate has never flooded despite being built on a flood plain, due to extensive flood defences put in when house was built.

It does however mean we get cut off fairly easily. Dh got to get home from Manchester later, then will want to go tomorrow. We've a pickup which helps but he's gone in his normal car today, will take pick up tomorrow but depending on whether he can get out of the village or not remains to be seen.

Friend is also a domiciliary carer in an area that floods even in normal weather, she will have a fun day tomorrow.

Looking at the GFS charts here, Christoph seems to develop right over the UK over the next few days, with strong winds on Thursday as well.

Im wondering if I should congratulate my arsehole neighbours on their decision to start their loft conversion last Friday - currently no tiles on their roof, just a lot of flappy plastic, and no sign of the glorified shed built on the roof new roof going on as their builders havent shown up. At least im not living in the other half of their semi 🙄

Well it was forecast to rain here all overnight and heavy rain all day today but we've only had a smattering of light rain so far, so it might not come to anything

I hope they did a good repair job of the Whaley Bridge dam as this will be a test of its strength and must be very worrying for Whaley residents.
Hope everyone is ok. It's raining here at the edge of the Peak District but nothing out of the ordinary. So far.

We had a fair amount of rain come down this morning in Dublin but there is currently roughly 40% blue in the sky (and high bright cloud mostly the remainder, although the northern horizon does look lower and much darker - the blue grey of heavy rain). But the yellow rainfall warning covers the northern half of the country, stopping just above Dublin.

Rainfall radar shows a reasonable gap, but more scattered rain coming across late this afternoon, so the current heavy band is over North Wales and there will be a lighter band over there late this evening I'm guessing.

Met Eireann has issued a weather advisory from midnight tonight until midnight on Sunday for wintery conditions, including potential for sleet and snow. They are finally catching up with UK Met Office to issue them a little in advance....
