I wish you could have joint thread starters! Gloria and I will be hosting this years snow watch and tag teaming with amateur weather forecasts. When reading them, please bear in mind that we are both amateurs with busy day to day lives, but we will do our best.

Please remember snow is notoriously difficult to forecast in this country as it often falls under marginal conditions.
When a forecast matters please do check with the Met Office first.

After a taste of winter already for some in the east, this mornings GFS model sticks with the winter weather theme we’ve been noticing for a few days for late Thurs 7th onwards, with a significant low pressure looking to bring in some cold and potentially rather snowy weather. Indeed, there is the potential for this to be accompanied by some very strong winds.

At the moment GFS plays around with the exact location of this low pressure, so it is too early to say where any snow may hit, but most places away from the far west seem to be in the potential firing line at the moment.

If some of the charts come off, the weather could be quite disruptive next weekend.

Cotswolds here, in a spot which almost always misses the snow & we have several inches & it’s still coming down thick & fast. We’ve been here nearly 20 years & I can only remember 2 occasions that we’ve had snow even though it’s snowed all around us, very excited!

Whatslovegottodo · 10/12/2017 07:55

Decent amount of snow west cheshire and coming down thick and fast now.

magimedi · 10/12/2017 07:56

Sussex - about 2 miles from coast. Very heavy rain & strong winds. No snow. Hooray!

milliememum · 10/12/2017 07:57

Se London, it's snowing here Smile

PanPanPanPing · 10/12/2017 08:03

You've prompted me to look out of the window, milliememum! SW London, the overnight rain has turned to snow now. It's still wet underfoot, so I don't know how much of it will settle.

whojamaflip · 10/12/2017 08:04

Well we've had a drop of snow overnight and it's still coming down thick and fast ShockGrin (glos/oxon border)

Nw London- snowing here - just upgraded from sleet in the last few minutes

Delatron · 10/12/2017 08:05

Woo hoo, coming down thick and fast in south bucks! Think it may turn to rain later then back to snow but a good covering at the moment.

Robux · 10/12/2017 08:06

Liverpool- no snow here. Gutted

perhapstomorrow · 10/12/2017 08:08

South london/Surrey borders and we had snow for a bit but it's stopped now!! It was settling too - would love a bit more!!:(

sluj · 10/12/2017 08:09

Snow in Hertfordshire! We have a small covering but looks like it's a little bit slushy on the ground. Still snowing though and the sky is very heavy

BrizzleDrizzle · 10/12/2017 08:10

Db says lots in worcestershire.

GloriaSmud · 10/12/2017 08:10

Xmas Grin whojam ~ just a slight covering you've got there!

Several hours in and we're up to 2-3cms (Leicester) Temperature -0.2 (and my new weather station that I got 2 weeks ago is showing a snow symbol ~ this makes me slightly excited!)

minsmum · 10/12/2017 08:11

Snow here in north london, was slushy when I took the dog out at 7 but thick and settling now

bookworm14 · 10/12/2017 08:13

Snow here in NW London. Quite heavy now!

SloanePeterson · 10/12/2017 08:13

We're in Cambs and it only started a couple of hours ago but it's really thick already and coming down fast. I can't believe so many of my friends didn't know it was coming, the warning has been up on the BBC weather site for most of the week. It's really gorgeous though, it hasn't properly snowed like this since I moved here 6 years ago.

Doobydoo · 10/12/2017 08:13

Where is my snow? In Lincolnshire and not a feckin flake!

EggysMom · 10/12/2017 08:14

It snowed in my part of Manchester yesterday (by the City ground). But because it was Manchester and because it hadn't been forecast for Saturday, it wasn't newsworthy. Biscuit

ShuttyTown · 10/12/2017 08:15

No snow here at all in County Durham. I WANT MY SNOW!!!

InMySpareTime · 10/12/2017 08:16

The Manchester snow shield has kicked in, sleety drizzle overnight killed the half an inch of snow we got yesterday, and the Met office's "snow all day" is now a 50% chance between 9 and 10am.
Xmas Envy of those with snow, now it's in London our chance is definitely gone.
The only direction that can breach the snow shield is WNW (past Liverpool and along the Mersey valley) and the weather system has passed there. Sad

BuzzKillington · 10/12/2017 08:17

We have lots! (Herts)

whatalifethisis · 10/12/2017 08:17

Snowing in Kent....the absolutely one and only time I really don't want it to snow and haven't even been doing my usual snow dances.......bucketing down :(

Doobydoo · 10/12/2017 08:25

It has just begun.....

BellsaRinging · 10/12/2017 08:27

Loads in Coventry...and it's still coming!
