...Anyone else's heart sink at heatwaves?!

Agh! Just looked at the weather app and next week looks like hell! On Tuesday, when we have a big event and I'll be running everywhere and driving for hours, it'll be over 30 Confused

Every bloody heatwave I get sick, moody, and then also don't sleep for weeks. Every time! No idea why. I dread them

... Are there any fellow heat-haters about on Mumsnet who fancy a whine? may well just be me

Chicago, indeed, I have a colleague from the Caribbean who looks ready to pass out. She did work in an office there but of course they had air con, plus she was able to drive to work in a car with air con. Pointless comparing heat here to heat in other countries.

As for bitching about weather, bitch away! Makes us feel better, no one is forced to listen on an online forum, that's the joy.

Water retention has made me swell up like a toad. Didn't get that when I was younger either.

ChicagoBull · 19/07/2016 14:56

Three loads of washing dry by 3 o clock though

Plus sides Grin

spanky2 · 19/07/2016 16:16

My car thermometer was 36 degrees on the school run! Ds1 has a friend over, so I can't wander around in my swimming costume a sarong!

hazeyjane · 19/07/2016 16:21

Everyone bitches when it's cold Not me!

...moan when it's hot...try a 45+ degree day in Australia. .(even Aussies try to avoid going out those days) If people think 30 is 'hot' ....umm no that's mildly hot smh

Oh well thanks for that bit of wisdom, that's cooled me right down....I've explained to ds that he should count himself lucky its not 45degrees, and he is no longer lying on the floor panting.

FHER (fucking huge eye roll)

hazeyjane · 19/07/2016 16:22

....apologies for crabbiness, but I am a bit fucking warm, and it makes me scritchy.

DontDeadOpenInside · 19/07/2016 16:29

I can't bear this heat!
My phone is showing 32° (east mids)

my kids came home from school telling us that the heat on the roof had set the fire alarms off in the school. It wasn't a planned drill and the staff called the fire service! Confused

DontDeadOpenInside · 19/07/2016 16:38

Summer 2003.. I remember it well. I spent it pregnant and gave birth late August.

Lorelei76 · 19/07/2016 16:46

Hazey, I love FHER - should be a new official term.

Obliviated · 19/07/2016 17:01

I'm far to pregnant for this weather. Three school runs a day hasn't helped.

LoisPuddingLane · 19/07/2016 17:02

This thread (and the 37 degree heat outside) has made me so flipping angry. It isn't just "a couple of days". I'm overheated from May to October. I walk to work and have to strip off on the way and still arrive absolutely, literally dripping sweat. And that's when it's below 20C. This kind of temperature is unbearable. At best all I can do it get to a cool place and keep still. Like others, I get sick, miserable, really really miserable. It's inescapable.

There's nothing "wrong" with me, any more than there's anything "wrong" with people who like hot weather. I just am not designed for raised temperatures. But hopefully you've fucked off to enjoy the lovely sun and won't read this.

SapphireSeptember · 19/07/2016 17:28

According to the BBC it's 32°C and 90% humidity as I type this. I'm sweating in places I didn't know I could! I like the sun, I like warm days, throw high humidity into the mix and I'm done, I hate it! And it has been seriously humid here (Cambridgeshire) for months now. Even if it's cool and rainy I end up feeling disgustingly sweaty and sticky. Work was hideous, the kitchen was like an oven, and the crappy little air conditioning unit can't cope with it.Sad

spottedwoodpecker · 19/07/2016 17:46

woe!!!!

Maybebabybee · 19/07/2016 18:36

Hear hear lois

CoffeeCoffeeAndLotsOfIt · 19/07/2016 18:46

Me!

I hate the heat at the best of times, but at 29 weeks pregnant I'm struggling. Wish it was 18c maximum Grin

NameChanger22 · 19/07/2016 18:50

I love it, the heat really makes me happier. I often think I was born in the wrong country.

Farfromtheusual · 19/07/2016 19:01

Yes! I'm not good in the heat at the best of times, I get sweaty, grumpy and it takes forever to cool down. Am currently heavily pregnant and pretty much bed bound for the last weeks of my pregnancy. Im lay on the bed in just my pants with all the upstairs windows open and the fan blasting on me shouting DP for an ice lol every half an hour!! Grin

NicknameUsed · 19/07/2016 19:01

I'm sorry, but if you are overheating at temperatures below 20 degrees, which IMO, is pleasantly warm, I do think it is worth checking that there aren't any underlying health issues.

Maybebabybee · 19/07/2016 19:02

I have got underlying health issues.

Delatron · 19/07/2016 19:11

I do think if, from May (average temp 15 degrees) until October you are dripping with sweat after a short walk (or even long walk) in temperatures below 20 degrees, then yes it is worth getting checked out with a doctor. I can't imagine arriving at work dripping in sweat every day. You say it is normal for you but I don't think it is normal, sorry. Could be a fitness issue rather than the temperature. (Disclaimer: before I rudely get told to bugger off again - I know some of you do have medical problems, I don't mean you) Bogging off again now (you're not wrong, the heat does make you all grumpy!) to enjoy my final evening in the garden!

LoisPuddingLane · 19/07/2016 19:13

Delatron, I couldn't give a monkey's wankstain for what you think.

Delatron · 19/07/2016 19:14

Actually Lois was even more pleasant. 'I hope you've fucked off to enjoy the sun'. You sound lovely!

Delatron · 19/07/2016 19:14

I'm not the one dripping in sweat every day. I mean really?

hazeyjane · 19/07/2016 19:17

Oh just go away.

What fun is there in poking hot people with a stick.

Honestly.

LoisPuddingLane · 19/07/2016 19:28

Yes, go away. Look, there is still some sun! Don't miss it! Quick.

Maybebabybee · 19/07/2016 19:29

Why is it so difficult to understand - some people don't like the heat.

It's perfectly acceptable to whinge about the cold and rain most of the year, why not the heat?
