issued by the metoffice. Includes an amber warning for snow in some areas of Scotland.

comparing radar and the warnings I think the worst of the snow is more eastwards of the warning area?

GloriaSmud · 16/01/2016 20:54

Excellent stuff Perihelion, and you've achieved so much in those 2cms!

Lockheart ~ something wintry (hard to tell whether it's sleet or snow) has just started here. Give it 15-30 minutes and it'll be over your way

Teeny tiny flakes of snow coming down here in East Surrey. Nothing that could possibly settle though.

Lockheart · 16/01/2016 21:08

Thank you Gloria!

We were originally forecast a frosty night tonight in mid Cornwall but this has changed and we're now going to get 6 degrees and rain, then it starts to get warmer :(

Last time it snowed here I was pregnant with dd, who turned 6 yesterday Angry Angry

I am starting to hate the local climate with a passion - we seem to have standard weather all year. Bit grey, a bit damp and somewhere between 9 and 15 degrees depending on the season. Ugh.

rosieposey · 16/01/2016 22:37

Leicestershire near the Rutland border and its snowing! Have been out in it and the cars and pathways look all snowy and beautiful. Met office have upped our light snow to 'heavy' so I'm keeping everything crossed for a good few hours.

TheWoollybacksWife · 16/01/2016 22:39

We have snow! Coming down quite thick and fast - I'm in Northants about 25ish miles from you Gloria

DD1 is out on the lash tonight and admitted that she probably wouldn't be taking her coat Shock as there are no cloakroom facilities and she would be hot in the pub/club. I'm feeling a bit PFB about her she's 21 and I need to get a grip

CointreauVersial · 16/01/2016 22:53

Snowing in Surrey....but already seems to be slowing down. Barely a snowball's worth.

GloriaSmud · 16/01/2016 23:08

Oooo 'tis coming down at a fair rate here with a covering on pavements now. We've also now got heavy snow forecast until 2am so it'll be interesting what snow depths we wake up to

Titsywoo · 16/01/2016 23:34

We've got heavy snow forecast between midnight and 2am too here - hope we wake up to something decent!

GloriaSmud · 17/01/2016 06:32

Wow, we have an excellent amount of snow ~ about 5-8cms with a good thick covering on grass and cars!
I think we'll be out with the sledge this morning!

Woollybacks ~ hope your DD had a good night out and got back OK and has defrosted

We have snow in south northants! It doesn't look too thick... But definitely enough for a snowball fight and some mini snowmen Grin

OhYouBadBadKitten · 17/01/2016 08:07

started snowing here half an hour ago, but sadly on top of a lot of rain. Stopped again now.

MooseyMoo · 17/01/2016 08:11

Started about half and hour ago here too but also very wet ground (Oxfordshire)

RingUpRingRingDown · 17/01/2016 08:12

gloria rather jealous. We're near to you but have only a very light dusting!

PestoSkiissimos · 17/01/2016 08:15

We have snow!!! Yay!! A nice covering and it's still snowing now Grin

GloriaSmud · 17/01/2016 08:22

Yay Pesto, you have snow! Looking at netweather's radar you might have a little more to come as well!

OP posts:
PestoSkiissimos · 17/01/2016 08:36

Ooh!! It do hope so, think I'll wax my skis 🎿 Grin

Lockheart · 17/01/2016 08:39

Lots of snow here in Rutland! Just about to take the dogs out in it :)

ScouseQueen · 17/01/2016 08:57

Snow has started falling here in the last 15 minutes! DS is excited and wants a snowball fight. We won't be at that point yet but here's hoping that we get snowed in from work tomorrow

MyVisionsComeFromSoup · 17/01/2016 08:57

Titsywoo - also in East Surrey - you happy with the snow we've got then? Inch, inch and a half or so, surprised it's lying tbh, I wouldn't have said the ground would have been cold enough.

notsomanky · 17/01/2016 09:02

We have had about a cm of snow overnight. They sky is grey and looks like there might be more.

DS1 football match is off, but DH is still deciding about his run later - he is doing C25K.

The cat is not impressed by the snow. Yowled to be let out, then turned tail and scurried back in. From the glare he gave me and the noise he made, he is obviously holding me responsible for the snow!

nannynick · 17/01/2016 09:14

Not sure we even have an inch yet in West Surrey/East Berks border. More like icing sugar dusting.
