Snowing and lying in Glasgow just nowGrin

JillJ72 · 16/01/2016 11:58

We are covered by a snow warning in N Bucks, although the number of flakes the BBC is affording us ranges from two two two to two one one one peters out completely. The answer will be when I get up in the morning to get the chickens up - and then the announcements on FB Grin

WhirlwindHugs · 16/01/2016 12:00

We're also just in the snowband warning

Bbc suggests it will rain first which is generally not good for snow settling.. I'm wondering if I can try and create a patch if I cover up some of the patio then lift the cover when it stops raining? Or would the ground temperature mean it melted anyway?

At Stirling just now..much snow

NewLife4Me · 16/01/2016 14:26

We have snow, yeahhhhh!
Greater Manc / Lancs.
Hope we get loads, I love it.

BloodyDogHairs · 16/01/2016 14:30

Snowing in Stirling, the pavements are going to be a nightmare as they were still iced over and slippy from the snow fall on Wednesday night.

Pipistrella · 16/01/2016 14:32

Keith, I'm with you on the sulk bench. We aren't covered in the warnings at all.

GloriaSmud · 16/01/2016 14:38

We've reached a 'high' of 2.9C today. Looking at this, the rain/snow is getting closer (Leicester)

Some nice snowy scenes on the trafficScotland website. And there's a slight covering at Braemar ~ snowgate open for the moment.

We had a few flakes forecast for Hampshire for tomorrow but this afternoons Met Office update has changed it all to rain Sad.

Perihelion · 16/01/2016 16:11

We have teeny tiny flakes of snow Grin

ExitPursuedByABear · 16/01/2016 16:17

Snowing quite persistently here in Saddleworth.

Lockheart · 16/01/2016 16:59

I'm in Rutland Gloria - keeping fingers crossed that the snow comes this far east!

InMySpareTime · 16/01/2016 17:15

Snow settling in Manchester! This is almost unheard of!

BishopBrennansArse · 16/01/2016 17:20

Me too Meg.

Looking at the radar it currently looks like the snow will arrive but then be replaced by rain a few hours later.

Ideally I'd like that cold air to stay there turning it all to snow.

notsomanky · 16/01/2016 17:37

Snow in Manchester! Not as much as my mum has in Renfrewshire.. But it is snow
It is lying but only a little more than a dusting !

PestoSkiissimos · 16/01/2016 17:37

I bet we don't get any down here ~ high on the Sussex Downs, outskirts of Brighton

megletthesecond · 16/01/2016 17:41

bish I'm annoyed because 24hrs in advance the Met office forecast light snow for tomorrow morning. That's close enough for me the kids to get excited. Then they cruelly snatched it back, taking our hopes and dreams with it .

GloriaSmud · 16/01/2016 17:41

Yay Perihelion (I know you were saying that you wouldn't get any wintry stuff!) And InMySpareTime too ~ it's mentioned on weather forums a lot that Manchester has some sort of barrier that stops snow falling.

I'm hoping for snow too Lockheart. Nothing's reached Leicester yet ~ metoffice says it's supposed to start as rain and turn to snow about 8pm. It's 0.9C now though (according to my weather station) so we'll see what starts first!

I keep checking uksnow Map live on Twitter. It's snowing in Norwich apparently and in north west but nothing here.

Scone1nSixtySeconds · 16/01/2016 19:38

Still nothing here. South Warwickshire :(

Lockheart · 16/01/2016 20:21

Still nothing in Rutland :(

Perihelion · 16/01/2016 20:31

Been out, had several snowball fights, built snowmen, made snow angels and generally rolled around in the snow like dogs.....all in 2cm of snow GrinGrinGrin and in the dark. It's still sort of snowing, like drizzle but in snow form. Will be up early in the morning to do some sledging up a hill Grin
Gloria I'm reasonably happy Grin **
