A thundery shower has just started here (Leicester). Nearest lightning/storm is at Kettering atm, approx 26 miles away.

StarDustInTheWind · 22/05/2014 14:25

Yep - just started in Cheltenham too, rolling, rumbling thunder with lots of wet stuff....

BlackeyedSusan · 22/05/2014 14:48

oh my goodness. it has really kicked off in the midlands.

I hope we have another one love a good storm :)

OhYouBadBadKitten · 22/05/2014 14:54

One clap of thunder and some rain :(

GloriaSmud · 22/05/2014 14:55

Just heard a few rumbles here.

Clutterbugsmum · 22/05/2014 14:55

Just starting in Luton, Beds.

Hping it stops before I need to go out to get DC from school.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 22/05/2014 14:57

There is a nice line of storms through eastern england especially, however I think they are quite limited in development, too much general cloud around. Perhaps more interesting later.

springlamb · 22/05/2014 14:59

Not a cloud in the sky and bright sunshine down here on the Romney Marshes. Mind you, we're recovering from a few hours of torrential rain last night.

A little bit blowy, but this greenhouse is positively tropical [pretends to pinch out tomato plants rather than lounge on broken garden chair with ipad]

MooncupGoddess · 22/05/2014 14:59

Thunder and torrential rain in London.

SnakeyMcBadass · 22/05/2014 15:00

Nothing here in south Derbyshire.

misstiredbuthappy · 22/05/2014 15:00

ohyoubadbadkitten do you think wales will get any thunder ?

GerundTheBehemoth · 22/05/2014 15:01

I'm in north-west Kent so not THAT far from springlamb. We have lead grey skies and some distant rumbly thunder.

Seeline · 22/05/2014 15:01

Just had a massive one in south London. I was trying to re-arrange my car insurance and had to keep asking the poor bloke to repeat stuff Grin

OhYouBadBadKitten · 22/05/2014 15:03

Some misstired.

Btw, there have been two reports of potential funnel clouds so keep your eyes peeled if you get any storms and try to get photos! Signs to look for are a lowering (like a tornado is trying to form, as thjats what it is!) but it must be rotating.

springlamb · 22/05/2014 15:04

What Gerund?
I cannot see anything but a beautiful blue sky, that really lovely blue, sorry folks.
Mind you, DS is at boarding school in Westerham and sometimes we have opposing weather.
I will go upstairs and look out of the roof windows towards the north west.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 22/05/2014 15:04

Yay!!! sun is coming out, more energy to get the storms going!

springlamb · 22/05/2014 15:07

It looks like 'something' is coming in over the Channel southerners. It's those kind of tall clouds. OYBBK will know the proper name.

GerundTheBehemoth · 22/05/2014 15:10

Starting to look a bit brighter here now, springlamb, think it's blowing away northish.

idontlikealdi · 22/05/2014 15:14

Massive thunder and lightening in central London, blue sky again now though.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 22/05/2014 15:15

cumulonimbus?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 22/05/2014 15:17

Things are starting to look pretty potent on the radar (come westwards storms, come westwards)

OhYouBadBadKitten · 22/05/2014 15:19

Kent people - keep an eye on the storms, radar is looking pretty interesting in your area. Potential for hail and perhaps funnel clouds I think.

springlamb · 22/05/2014 15:35

I thank you OYBBK just in time for the school bus run...
Blue skies disappearing now, think I will herd the ducks in and close up the greenhouse
