Hi all,

We have been following the news and several threads on Mumsnet about the flooding in Somerset and the South West and we wanted to point you in the direction of this thread if you'd like to help.

We are thinking of pulling together a gallery of flood images from where you are to help to raise awareness of what so many are going through at the moment.

Please do post images of flooding near you below (you will see you can now post images in the Weather topic)

Thanks all, and we hope those affected are safe and well.

Can I do a quick pointer to the forecast thread. It seems that today has taken some people by surprise.

ormirian · 12/02/2014 16:22

These are some images I have taken over the last few weeks. The flooding is far worse now. I have lost the taste for taking any more pictures - its not interesting or dramatic anymore, it's just sad.

It is truly dreadful. My thoughts are with everyone affected by this.

GwendolineMaryLacey · 12/02/2014 16:47

The road to the play cafe that I take DD2 to in Walton-on-Thames in Surrey. To the right of the white fence that you can just about see the top of is the tow path and the River Wey.

Wow - these pictures are shocking. Thinking of all you and will now stop moaning about the rain that we are getting but which isn't causing floods where I live (in the south); it's just annoying.

AuditAngel · 12/02/2014 18:35

Imogen's mumJess, I recognise the new Walton bridge in the background.

Nocomet · 12/02/2014 19:16

Sending Sparklingbrook and everyone in Worcester very best wishes.

They were calling huge jams on the radio and the seven is as high as in 2007.

Feeling kind of guilty that I live somewhere where the house won't flood and keep moaning about our local roads which do.

Sparklingbrook · 12/02/2014 19:21

Thanks NoComet, I am far enough away to not be affected other than my retail therapy being curtailed as the car parks are underwater. So lucky that I don't have to venture into Worcester

The problem with Worcester is there are only 3 bridges over the river, so all the traffic has now transferred to the other two, one of which is more rural. Needs sorting really.

LeBearPolar · 12/02/2014 19:27

Sparklingbrook - I have been wrestling with the Worcester to Malvern commute this week...two hours to get home last night Sad

Sparklingbrook · 12/02/2014 19:30

OMG LeBear you poor, poor person. That sounds awful. We went over Powick way at the weekend on the way to Malvern and it just looks like the sea doesn't it? Water as far as you can see in all directions. Almost biblical. Sad

NormHonal · 12/02/2014 19:39

GwendolineMaryLacey I used to take my DCs to that play cafe. Few years ago now.

Also sending thoughts to everyone in Worcester and the area, we have family there who aren't able to get to work at the moment.

droitwichmummy · 12/02/2014 20:57

Sparkling and LeBear any idea how the 'new' bridge is? I'm trying to work out if/how my step mum can get to me from Leominster on Saturday.

BumpKitty · 12/02/2014 23:27

From Leominster she might be better off using the Holt Fleet bridge and just allowing a lot of time for the journey.

JammyTodger · 12/02/2014 23:56

Droitwichmummy We live very close to Powick roundabout and I can confirm that traffic is an absolute nightmare. Total gridlock for most of the day. Took my friend 2 hours from St John's to HCarrington Bridge today. I'm very glad not to have to go anywhere and we have most things we need in St John's. I always wanted to live on an island. I have pics but will post tomorrow.

EvaLongoria · 12/02/2014 23:59

This is Gheluvelt Park in Worcester this morning before school run. Was much higher this afternoon but I forgot my phone at home. And along the one side of the park is Waterworks Road which was featured in the news tonight and is completely flooded. We are just a road away but thankfully no water near us.

Blimey Eva, brings a whole new meaning to 'Splash Pad'. Sad

flootshoot · 13/02/2014 07:26

Not sure if this will work... pic 1 is DS outside our gravel pits. For clarification, the railing you can see in the distance over on the left is where you normally stand to look down on the water. Pic two is the gate of our play park, about 200m from the river.

Ooh it worked! I will go out and take some more today.

frostyfingers · 13/02/2014 08:41

droitwich - bear in mind that the A4103 at Bransford may still be closed, it was yesterday and is a notorious spot for flooding.....

Sparklingbrook · 13/02/2014 09:06

Tomorrow's forecast for Worcestershire is awful. More rain, and then more rain. Ugh.

aliciaflorrick · 13/02/2014 10:00

These are pictures of my dining room and the view from my front door, and it's been like this since 24th December, so I think we've been under water for eight weeks now.

We're in South West Brittany so not UK, but I worked out yesterday the only things we had left were one laptop, two ipads and two kindles, three beds and the clothes in the wardrobes upstairs. Everything else is gone. After eight weeks the structural damage to the house is massive too.

We've got more heavy rain forecast for the next two weeks, I have no idea when my house will be clear of water.

alicia you poor thing. Sending you dry thoughts right now and hope you can get things sorted Sad

Was terrified for my family on low lying ground in North Wales yesterday. Fortunately they hunkered down and not too much damage. Not sure how much more of this they can take though, all livestock is in and the cost of feeding them enormous Sad

duchesse · 13/02/2014 12:25

This is my hamlet in East Devon on New Year's Day. Luckily the floods recede pretty quickly here, but they also come up pretty quickly too. I was flooded in nearly this much yesterday for a few hours. Half a dozen people wrote their cars off trying to drive through the ford in our village yesterday.

Last year several neighbours were actually flooded, not least because stupid careless people will insist on driving fast through flooding outside houses, sending tidal waves through front doors. In the middle picture you can see some neighbours up to their knees on the road. Two are going to fetch sandbags. The woman is on her way home from a night shift (as though working on NYE wasn't enough). The picture with the temporary fence shows the road on the left, the "stream" on the right hand side. Usually it's about 3 inches deep and looks barely more than a ditch- you can see with with significant rain, it swells to 2.5 ft deep and 12 feet wide. We are very near to a river very prone to flooding as well, that regularly spills over the road and cuts us and various other villages off.

View of our local park and the road next to it. Couple of hundred yards from our front door and right now I'm glad of every inch.
