MrsM - its only luck that you werent hit by a powercut, an awfully huge number were.

QuintsHollow · 28/10/2013 09:47

My dad says he is fine. He sounds normal. I asked in-depth questions which he ha no problems answering. The nurse has given him a thorough check-over and they are getting him an investigate appointment with his GP. There is apparently a bug going, with fever, tiredness aches and pains.

I will hold off with booking any tickets until I know more. One thing is for sure, he is not on deaths bed or any thing. He is shaken and stirred, but fine. He has promised me he will call his best mate to have a good moan later.

QuintsHollow · 28/10/2013 09:47

thanks for asking. Thanks

CatAmongThePigeons · 28/10/2013 09:49

Glad he's not too bad Quint

EeTraceyluv · 28/10/2013 09:50

Horribly rainy overnight in Cambridge. Bloody cat driving me insane all night - wanted to go out but didn't dare, so slept on my head! The trees in our garden are wobbling but doesn't see too horrific. Little dd7 on holiday in the Norfolk coast - have had report that they will stay in all day !! I was supposed to go to London...staying in bed instead with a very bad throat :(

OlyRoller · 28/10/2013 09:50

Branch just crushed a 4x4 a couple blocks away - Amsterdam

cloudskitchen · 28/10/2013 09:51

Glad you have been reassured over your dad Quint

waikikamookau · 28/10/2013 09:54

a 17 year old girl was killed in kent Sad

OhYouBadBadKitten · 28/10/2013 09:55

oh no :(

OhYouBadBadKitten · 28/10/2013 09:56

Anyone who thinks it was an over reaction:

bbc report poor girl was sleeping.

mankyscotslass · 28/10/2013 09:56

Just seeing reports of a man killed in Watford when a tree fell on his car. Sad

mignonnette · 28/10/2013 09:58

Seeing houses crushed by trees makes me think that people only accuse others of overreacting when they themselves have escaped unscathed.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 28/10/2013 09:59

oh no manky :(

exactly right mignon. It was never going to be a uk wide hurricane. It was a nasty storm with fatal consequences.

MissMillament · 28/10/2013 10:00

MrsM - its only luck that you werent hit by a powercut, an awfully huge number were.

So I told him, OYBBK. And there is still next weekend to come. Also it is still F8 here which is not exactly balmy.
Hope you are getting back to normal now.

oldsilver · 28/10/2013 10:04

Really really heavy rain in Bristol - coming down like stair rods. Wind hit about 4-4.30 but nothing major.

CatAmongThePigeons · 28/10/2013 10:05

Seeing the devastation caused on that link is so awful. Sorry for those who have lost their lives due to this. We have been so lucky here, but that is purely that, luck.

waikikamookau · 28/10/2013 10:09

masses of trees down southern Britain, if you look on bbc travel news Shock

GloriaSmud · 28/10/2013 10:13

Leicester signing in. Didn't think we'd had that much rain overnight until I had to do the school run and the road to DD1's school was closed due to flooding. A run that would normally have taken just over an hour has taken nearly 1 3/4 hours.
'Tis now bright sunshine and 10.5C.

Lexilicious · 28/10/2013 10:14

Gosh, the Watford road with the poor man and the downed tree is about two miles from me. It is calm, clear and sunny now. I was going to go into town shopping but the bus goes up that street.

ChubbyKitty · 28/10/2013 10:15

Newark seems peaceful. I have a small lake at the end of the drive but that's the norm for us.

Wheelie bins have been emptied and are still where they should be.

So sad about the people who died thoughSad

LumpySpacePrincessOhMyGlob · 28/10/2013 10:17

So where is the storm now? Are the timings the same as they were giving out yesterday. We are driving to Hunstanton but will leave later when it's passed over Norfolk.

talulahbelle · 28/10/2013 10:17

OYBBK What's the long range outlook for next weekend looking like? We are due to travel abroad at the weekend and I'm really hoping there's not a repeat of the storms.

Trills · 28/10/2013 10:19

Trains not running but I was WFH anyway.

Wouldn't mind a short powercut as an excuse to not do any work... No, that's a bad wish because I'd just have to do it later.

lagoonhaze · 28/10/2013 10:20

OYBBK More mocking because I said Id got prepared etc. Extra milk in freezer, tins, candles, batteries for torches. Stuff we should actually have in as winter in coming.

To be honest they would be the first to moan they weren't prepared and I'd rather be able to feed my kids and know who to report a fallen tree to/power cut then suddenly think bugger should have been prepared.

Plus the damage upcountry shows the warnings were necessary!

And now deaths just makes me want to tell them to fuck off!

TheHumancatapult · 28/10/2013 10:24

No No storms allowed next weekend please .I I have whole weekend of from dc as going to friends wedding
