Glad you're back OYBBK

Maybe MNHQ could check the funding available for a generator for you, file it under services to other MNers!!!!!

So, it's still very calm here, a bit of rain, but otherwise ok. I'm guessing Derbyshire has been spared this time?

Norfolk/Suffolk border here. Seems to have calmed down again now. Damage so far: house over the road has lost an ariel and our mini greenhouse is listing.

Anyone in Hunstanton? Is there power (though I guess if there isn't they won't be posting!) We're supposed to be going on holiday in Hunstanton today but have heard there are power cuts in north Norfolk/Kings Lynn.

Weekends possible storm will be forecast later. at the moment I'm reeling from a night of very little sleep and a powercut. Plus I want to examine what happened. Inland at Odiham (hampshire) the wind reached 78mph. Coastal winds Reports of a gust off Dover of 105mph. Needles reached 99mph.

lagoon - friends shouldnt be laughing. We were hit quite badly here and I was very grateful for being prepared.

Stellarpunk · 28/10/2013 09:22

Someone up thread asking about Reading? I'm in Burghfield Common, deadly wooded area, and I have a big oak branch now in my back garden. More firewood for me :) no fencing down tho'

Stellarpunk · 28/10/2013 09:22

Deadly? Densely!

youarewinning · 28/10/2013 09:24

OYBBK Southampton also reported gusts of 77mph. It came through Hampshire at about 4.30/ 5ish and lasted over an hour. Some of the gusts very very loud and intense and was rather like 3-10 second walls of wind rather than a 1-2 second gust iyswim?

youarewinning · 28/10/2013 09:25

OYBBK where abouts are you?

Ilovemydogandmydoglovesme · 28/10/2013 09:26

Anyone else in Suffolk? Do you have to go out today or are you cancelling all travel?

QuintsHollow · 28/10/2013 09:28

Seems to calm down in London.

The boys woke up and asked "what happened to the storm". Not sure much happened here. It was very windy around 6-8 am this morning.

I have not slept much, but I cant blame the weather!

Mirage · 28/10/2013 09:29

Normal wet and breezy autumn day here in Leics.Must have missed us completely.

CatAmongThePigeons · 28/10/2013 09:29

Grin at Turnip

Does anyone know anything about travelling along M4/M5/M25 today? Got a relative who wants to travel if it's looking okay.

mrsWast · 28/10/2013 09:30

i'm in Suffolk - just waiting for the camera battery to charge and i'm off to Felixstowe...still very windy here.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 28/10/2013 09:32

youarewinning - I'm central southern England :) I like to attempt to be a bit private about where I am. I was rather in the thick of it though Grin

youarewinning · 28/10/2013 09:32

quint Any news on your dad or being able to get a flight? Thanks

youarewinning · 28/10/2013 09:33

That's OK, your entitled to your privacy OYBBK. I was unsure if you'd mentioned it and I'd missed it!!!

AnnaConda · 28/10/2013 09:36

Yes, love the onions comment Grin

One fence panel hanging off it's post and a dustbin rolling around driveway. Still gusty but the worst seems to be over.

Blipthepunkinpowercarver · 28/10/2013 09:36

Grin I posted right at the start of the first thread last week as I was Shock DS has to catch a ferry on the 28th, well hear we are and he isn't catching the ferry but not because of the storm but because his Nanny who was coming over from Rosslare missed it at her end Grin there is also the small matter that, apparently, the trains are not running..

mignonnette · 28/10/2013 09:38

I want to go buy a paper for the Lou Reed tributes but don't know whether to go or not. My car is in London so have to walk (In West Suffolk).

MissMillament · 28/10/2013 09:39

I seem to have slept through the worst of it here on the south Hampshire coast, though it is still F7 gusting F8 here according to Bramblemet. Sea state looks fairly rough too from what I can glimpse from my windows. No power cuts though and DH now thinks I was over reacting in my insistance on buying spare batteries for torches and laying in a stock of candles!

Madasabox · 28/10/2013 09:43

Surrey/Hampshire border here - very windy night. Lost power at around 6am as tree hit power lines. Have taken myself off to gym to work/mumsnet as all trains into London cancelled till lunchtime Halloween Shock

HeadfirstForHalos · 28/10/2013 09:44

It's a bit rainy but calm in North Staffordshire, does anyone know if it has missed us or is it still coming?
