Look what's made a home on this webcam!...

Not exactly weather related but I thought this was funny. I discovered this webcam when looking at ones of the erupting Icelandic volcano a few months ago. This webcam is of Hekla (when you can see it through the rain/mist/fog!) but I noticed this morning, a spider's made a web right over the camera lens!
I wonder how long it'll be before someone comes along and cleans it off!

that looks wonderful petunia! I want to go to Iceland!

petunia · 14/08/2010 13:06

I know belgo. They've only had the webcam of the lake up a few weeks but I admit to feeling a pang of, "I want to go there" when I saw it! Have you seen the geyser as well (it whooshes up every few minutes and seems to be a huge tourist attraction!)

Spider's web gone now.

tribpot · 14/08/2010 13:54

I wondered if maybe we just couldn't see it because of the angle of the light now? We need Darth to come to life and go over and have a look!

belgo · 14/08/2010 14:21

I'm still waiting for that geyser to erupt and for all the tourists to run away.

serenity · 14/08/2010 14:38

It's strangely hypnotic...

usualsuspect · 14/08/2010 14:43

Has it erupted yet?

tribpot · 14/08/2010 17:30

Now foggy as you like, even Darth is barely there. But yes, it does look like Spidey's gone - darn, I wanted it to stay clear for the sunset, so I could pretend I was on holiday in Iceland!

tribpot · 14/08/2010 21:54

Yay Spidey just went over the screen!

Eleison · 14/08/2010 21:58

I saw her too! Yay. Web-rebuilding weather now.

tribpot · 14/08/2010 21:59

She's there now! Go Spidey!

tribpot · 14/08/2010 22:00

Also probably our best view of Darth all day. For a webcam where basically nothing has happened in the entire day, this one rocks!

BrittanyBeers · 14/08/2010 22:02

Very busy little spider atm!

Don't know why I'm watchinh intently though, when I could be watching the gazillions in our house.Hmm

BrittanyBeers · 14/08/2010 22:04

What's the willy thing?

tribpot · 14/08/2010 22:05

That's called Darth, Brittany. We think it's some kind of weather sensor but for various parts of the day we thought it might actually be a human being.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 14/08/2010 22:15

WOW!!!!!!!!!! Go spider!!!!!!!

Darth doesnt look so ominous now. Its very light up there isnt it. quite surreal that its lighter now than it was this morning.

tribpot · 14/08/2010 22:21

Yeah, I wanted to watch the sunset but now not sure there actually will be one! This morning must have been so dark because of all the cloud.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 14/08/2010 22:23

I guess we might be waiting a couple of weeks for it!
Spider must get a bit exhausted with next to no night to sleep!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 14/08/2010 22:24

(think it might be npaiing now, its not moved for a bit)

petunia · 14/08/2010 23:15

Aw there he/she is. I wonder if Spidey's beginning to wish she'd chosen somewhere else to build a home; having to carry out home maintenance will be a regular thing!

tribpot · 14/08/2010 23:21

G'night Spidey, g'night Darth.

Now there's something I didn't think I would say today Grin

OhYouBadBadKitten · 15/08/2010 08:22

Spider slowly working away this morning. weather there looks remarkably similar to weather here this am.

tribpot · 15/08/2010 22:41

Today has been a particularly boring day but looking forward to seeing our volcano tmrw :)

Eleison · 16/08/2010 09:38

Boring! How so? Actually I did ee the spider wrapping up a caught fly at one point, but I thought that was too exciting and not in the spirit of the thing so I decided it was best not to post it.

The light is very different today, and worryingly no sign of web

tribpot · 16/08/2010 09:56

Darth is back to looking menacing, excellent.
