Ive been told that my baby will be ok on this just a small amount b4 bed, i have tried to give it to him and he spits it out, i wasent sure at first to give it to him but my mother in law says she did it for all of her lads who are healthu and that he will sleep all night, he dident sleep last night, but im moving onto mashed orange this weeks as he is nearly 7 weeks old and she said it will be fine.
What else should I try i want him fully weaned ny 4 months as they are more contented.
Thanks x Ps this is number 5 baby, the others were started at 3 months but this one is a hungry boy!

Supposing you're not a troll, you realkly can't feed a ^ wk old solids.
If yiu think you're pregnabt again, you ned to find out as soon as possible.

mummyof5ok · 10/10/2008 16:05

we have our own chicken that are organic, my mother in law said i could mash an egg and mix it with breast milk? would that be better than the other stuff?

Ok I give up.....

LackaDAISYcal · 10/10/2008 16:07

OFGS......you are either a troll or too stupid to listen to what has been said in previous posts.

NO it is not OK to give a 6 week old baby anything other than breastmilk.

mashed egg FFS.

lulumama · 10/10/2008 16:07

ok, breastfeeding as a contraceptive will not work if you are giving food or drink other than breastmilk

you could be pregnant. you need to do a test

if you must get your baby onto something other than breastmilk then formula is the way to go rather than solid food

yes, your baby is hungry, he has a tiny tummy that needs filling often

and it needs filling with MILK only

you can tandem feed , keep feeding this baby and you can also feed a newbonr if you are pregnant

This has got to be a troll...surely no one would ignore this kind of advice?
I've only had one baby and I know about feeding/weaning etc.

mummyof5ok · 10/10/2008 16:08

what is mn please

OP posts:
LackaDAISYcal · 10/10/2008 16:08

or formula obviously.

now off you pop.

lulumama · 10/10/2008 16:09

DO NOT GIVE YOUR BABY ANYTHING OTHER THAN BREAST MILK OR FORMULA

DOES NOT MATTER IF THE EGG IS ORGANIC , EGG IS A WELL KNOWN ALLERGEN AND SHOULD NOT BE GIVEN UNTIL AROUND 8 - 9 MONTHS OLD

YOUR BABY'S GUT IS NOT MATURE ENOUGH FOR FOOD

YOU RUN THE RISK OF MAKING HIM VERY ILL, CONSTIPATED, AND INCREASING HIS RISK OF BOWEL ISSUES IN THE FUTURE

brightongirldownunder · 10/10/2008 16:09

MUMSNET = MN

lulumama · 10/10/2008 16:10

mummyof5ok · 10/10/2008 16:10

Lulamama you have been so valiant and true I feel that I must stand and applaud...

brightongirldownunder · 10/10/2008 16:12

Look at the acronym list at top of page - its basically shortening words that are often used.

Darling husband (also Daughter, Son, Child)

I think if everyone stopped answering her questions she might just stop wasting everyones time.

doggyandteddy · 10/10/2008 16:13

plumandolive · 10/10/2008 16:13

hunnis I think this is good advice

lulumama · 10/10/2008 16:14

maybe so ginger, but for all the lurkers, i feel it is important to give the reasons why such early weaning is Not a Great IDdea

i am just too old and cynical, obviously. My DN is nine and even then the guidlines were 16/17 weeks. Even my older DNs at 22 and 23 were weaned at 16 weeks.

I'm not buying the apparent naievete of this poster, sorry. It's all there in your handheld notes anyway.....we got a barrage of handouts from weaning to cosleeping and smoking with ours.

if you are genuine then I apologise unreservedly and.....

talk to your health visitor before introducing any solids.

or ignore the advice being given here and do what you want but don't keep harping on and drawing more people in.

Weaning is an emotive subject on here, but there isn't a single MNer who will say that what you are planning to do is OK regardless of whether they are a fan of "early" weaning or not as early generally means 17 weeks.

mummyof5ok · 10/10/2008 16:19

ok thank you, im sorry if i sound a bit daft with this i live in the middle of the countryside and have no friends or means of transport, now ive got the internet im hoping to at least get some advise
