Ive been told that my baby will be ok on this just a small amount b4 bed, i have tried to give it to him and he spits it out, i wasent sure at first to give it to him but my mother in law says she did it for all of her lads who are healthu and that he will sleep all night, he dident sleep last night, but im moving onto mashed orange this weeks as he is nearly 7 weeks old and she said it will be fine.
What else should I try i want him fully weaned ny 4 months as they are more contented.
Thanks x Ps this is number 5 baby, the others were started at 3 months but this one is a hungry boy!

Surely it could be worse, a pureed Greggs sausage roll and coke in the bottle.

combustiblelemon · 10/10/2008 15:31

I remember when penny sweets were a ha'penny and all this were fields. In those days you got proper trolls, oh yes.

expatinscotland · 10/10/2008 15:31

what's small and lives under bridges?

mummyof5ok · 10/10/2008 15:32

if you have four other children then you would be experienced and confident enough to know the deal regarding early weaning and should know not to listen to someone who weaned possibly half a century ago!

brightongirldownunder · 10/10/2008 15:33

Hahahahaha
Just dip his dummy in some baked beans and fill his bottle with lucozade.
Seriously - is it trolling time again?.
BUT..if you're for real PLEASE GOD PLEASE get some proper advice before you make your baby ill

expatinscotland · 10/10/2008 15:33

weight is not an indicator of a baby needing food

the signs that show physical readiness i.e gut maturity and the right enzymes for digesting food include these:

loss of tongue thrust reflex

able to sit unaided with good head control

pincer grip/able to pikc up food and get to their mouth, chew and swallow

www.kellymom.com

has excellent info

if you get a breastfed baby on other foods so quicly, you no longer have the 'virgin gut' and also the less your baby feeds, especially at night, in the early weeks, the less likely it is your supply will keep up

all a baby of this age needs is milk., which is the safest most nutritious and fillng thing you can give

sleeping through the night is not usual or to be expected at this age

CharCharBaGOOOOOOORE · 10/10/2008 15:37

Baby rice is the same as any other food - i.e. not suitable under 6 months.

mummyof5ok · 10/10/2008 15:39

do u think he would be better with formula ive never used it before its a long drive to get some from were we live, will that fill him up? he is just so hungry all the time,

OP posts:
brightongirldownunder · 10/10/2008 15:39

Nothing but breastmilk - are you feeding on demand? Maybe he needs more?

mummyof5ok · 10/10/2008 15:39

ok ill look at the kelly mum thing thank you
