I`ve never done this before even tho dc 4 !
DD1 18yrs
DD2 15 yrs
DS1 7 years
DD3 1/2 !

Totally breastfed to date and very content.
Allowed her to help herself to my plate tonight where i ensured she could reach soft green beans if she wanted to.
She loved it-made a mess-squashed it and mushed and and ALMOST sucked it !
Well thats my experience so far !
Am about a quarter way thro eading the BLW book and very confident that she`s totally fine just breastfeeding for quite a while yet as omly have to look at her to see that nature is working wonders x
Bit scared about the whole lumps bit tho but willing to give it a good go x

Wow dd has just eaten loads (for her) for lunch! I know she probably won't eat for another week now, but it feels very exciting!

Evening all

bab comingup to 8 months now and things going OK I feel

I am getting fixated on food groups though - is it important, do you think, that I'm aiming for so many fruit/veg, so many carb servings per day?

Pidgywidge · 12/03/2011 15:30

Dd had bagel with red pepper houmous for lunch today and now her face has come up in a red rash. I've put a bit of sudocrem on, any other suggestions?

TheWaterHorse · 15/03/2011 21:19

Hi how is everyone getting on this week? Things still a bit hit and miss here; strawberries went well yesterday. DD is being tested for allergies tomorrow, so might be able to expand her diet soon, hopefully.

Catdoctor - I'm roughly trying to make sure I give DD a range of foods including one or two from each of the main food groups, but I'm not being too strict.

Pidgywidge - how is your DD doing now? Has her face fully recovered?

CakeandRoses · 16/03/2011 20:43

DD is getting far more capable of picking small things like sweetcorn or raisins up. She's also developing different techniques for managing slippery food - she kind of chucks it in rather than holding it Grin

she loves pudding lately - usually baby rice or quinoa flakes (presoaked) with random stuff to flavour it such as ground almonds, banana, fruit spread. She had a third helping today (and then threw up half her bedtime feed all over me Hmm)

catdoctor i was like that first time round with ds. This time i'm much more chilled as i know this is the 'easy' bit as they're still getting so much from their milk. There's years worth of stressing over nutrition ahead so it's nice to relax about all that until they're at least a year old i reckon! I just try to give her plenty of tastes and textures for now.

Well I am much more relaxed now, DS seems to have really taken to it suddenly. He loves crumpets and toast, also breadsticks were a hit - considering he has no teeth he does very well with them. And anything spread on a ricecake gets woolfed down :) Also yoghurt given on loaded spoons is very popular - he's so funny though, he moves his face to the spoon rather than the other way round!

Also am really impressed with how much he seems to like water, I know so many babies who won't drink it, but he loves it - must take after me as it's my favourite drink, well, after g&t Grin

It's really intersting to see to his dexterity is improving so quickly as well, he's using both hands to eat with now.
