New thread. No routes where I am. We're going to be at Pokémon Go Fest on 6 August. V excited.

I did get an invite last night, but was too slow to get to it in time (which is pretty poor for a remote raid, would be more understandable if I had to physically get somewhere).
I was getting my field research and special research confused, this is the mega discovery task, so can't dump it and it's got rare candy as a prize, which I'm quite keen to get. I've walked nearly 200km with a magicarp flapping alongside, so any rare candies towards the cause of finally evolving her and a bit less walking would be great...

Christmas pokemon play - at risk of sounding obsessive, we did wander outdoors after xmas lunch. For a festive gift i got a route approved within the hour! Wondering if they have something automated to bump through routes that are a long way from any others, I did submit that one as I couldn't find one to walk nearby. Apart from that, I had one from September approved last week, and 3 from Sept-Oct still pending. All seems a bit random.

gillybean, that sounds like quite the shiny collection. I have a shiny snorunt and a shiny hat-eevee from last xmas that i still haven't evolved as I can't decide which form to evolve them into. The /potential/ for them to evolve in different ways is currently pleasing me more than actually picking one and foregoing the others.

AlmostLegendary don't waste rare candy on magikarp! They're bound to turn up in the wild or in eggs again soon. And you'll be looking for candy for some legendary that costs 10/20km to walk rather than 0.5/1. Are you near any gyms to just battle a mega on your own, if it doesn't matter if you lose?

@thirdfiddle I have a bad combination of impatience, lack of room in the item bag to store much rare candy and not many legendary Pokémon to use it on, but I have saved the last lot for something more useful. I'm now only 12 candy away from finally being able to stop the flapping, which is a couple of days walking for me, so will be more patient.

I tried a mega raid by myself, but didn't realise I needed to stay in range for the whole time, so I'd wandered past by the time my team were all knocked out and I needed to rejoin. I'll get there eventually, but a remote might be an easier way to do it.

Fair enough. I'm grinding candy for assorted legendaries and missing that 1km candy walking! But sure you're right, if you don't have something you want to power up at the moment there's only so much rare candy you can store. Got a nice magikarp to upgrade when you get there?

It's a 3 star, so should work out ok. I nearly transferred all my magikarp as completely useless flappy things earlier on, so glad I did save that one.

There's probably a few things I'd do differently if starting now, but it's always a juggle between lack of Pokémon storage, lack of item storage and lack of the things you need to do the next bit!

I am with you there. Juggling item storage and Pokémon storage is a big part of the game for me.

Currently I have three remote raid passes so if you need help with a mega, please in vite me.

Storage is definitely worth early coin investment. In so far as your patience will allow :) One thing that isn't consumable. I'm finding 1000 item storage suitably overkill at the moment. DH keeps running out as he doesn't like binning anything.

If there's one thing I wish I'd known earlier it's not to power up those quest mythicals too much. There are a few like Victini that keep popping up in particular Great League formats and I wish I'd kept mine small enough. Not enough to start again and go through the pain of walking goldfish though!

I managed to get the mega raid out the way with my only local Pokémon playing friend, just wish we got to get out a bit more frequently. I think I'm going to be doing the party research forever!

I wish I'd known about keeping the good low CP Pokémon earlier. I transferred quite a few which would have been useful for battling as I thought the aim was to get everything as powered up as possible when I first started.

@SneakyGremlin Kewl, you could start a collection similarly to my friend collecting 10CP ones (esp. carps.)

I dropped ds at the station as he was going up to London, thought I’d put my daily incense on while driving to the office with a go plus+ running (usually I forget and they don’t get used at all or I only catch 1 mon while I’m sat on my sofa of an evening). Arrived at work to find I’d caught one on the way! First one I've seen on my account. Had to share; I keep looking at it to check it’s really there 😆

Bloody hell that's amazing. I always try with golden raspberries, ultra balls, great curve throw. Never bloody catch them.

gillybean 😮😮😮wow. I've not tried using an auto-catch thing, do you like it? I guess I would have to invest in a lot more bag space if I was going to do that, usually I have to delete as I go or I run out of space.

Anyone else finding the hatch challenge impossible? I've even invested a few pokecoins in an extra incubator but just keep hatching the usual rubbish.

It's really annoying me. There's no reduced hatch distance and it hasn't told me anywhere which eggs I need.

@AlmostLegendary You have to hatch 7k eggs picked up during the event to find them or you will just get the usual rubbish. There’s only one available in the usual eggs.

I’ve got 9 x 7k eggs on the go currently. Hatched 1 of those needed so far. If I don’t get them then in this lot at least I’ve managed to get eggs with mileage to help towards the pilot/trade badge. Only 2.9million miles to go…

I gave up on the hatch challenge at the outset, I'd need longer to clear the space to get the eggs that may or may not have duplicates of what I want to hatch. I'm accepting that it's not going to happen.

I've decided to go for it on the hatch challenge. It means I've burned through a lot of incubators but I like the thrill of the chase. Two down, and hoping that the nine eggs I've got on the go will produce the other two.
