Blimey, those last 30 or so posts went quickly! Here's a lovely shiny new thread.

We evolved our Swablu today. Am hoping for a wailmer or wimpod 🙂community day!

Did my Swablu and my Mudkip this week. Working on the Stufful now but it's a long slog.

No matter how many people are getting shinies, I’ve not seen a single one during this event.

I never usually do the battle league but very pleased with myself I got to rank 20 (first time getting past about 7 I think haha)

Everyone goes at their own pace. I like the battles but I’m more of a collector. I prefer to fill my Pokédex. Sometimes that requires me to battle to do it

I thought I was more of a collector but I am enjoying battles. I like strategising.

I also like friends. The postcards that come with the gifts are really neat. I like thinking of MNers all over the UK playing 🙂

Yes I love seeing where they're all from, I have a few friends from Facebook and they send gifts from Greece and Holland

Any tips on beating Team Rocket leader Arlo? His last Pokémon is this big steel thing that bites like a bear trap. CP of 5000 something.

Steelix? You need a fire, fighting, water or ground type. I think I used Darmanitan.

Can I beat him if my highest CP Pokémon (who is fighting type) is less than 5000 or should I wait until I have a 5000 or better CP?

Yes I've beaten Arlo (only once TBF) and my highest fighting CP is about 2500. It's about matching party, use of shields and getting his first two Pokémon beaten quickly so you've got extra firepower to spare on his last one.

Yes, am starting to get better at that. Beat Team Leader Cliff for the Intereggsting quest. I forgot I had already beaten Arlo for that quest. Next is Giovanni I believe. I have heard he is very difficult.

Is it worth sometimes choosing Pokémon for HP rather than CP?

Giovanni is difficult. I’ve took him down twice now. The second time was harder than the first. He has a ridiculously high shadow Persian.

The trick is to get his shields out as early as possible so you want a Pokémon that has a quick charge attack

That is incredibly helpful, thank you! How can you tell if an attack is quick charge?

Practice with them in raids, gym battles, team leader battles, team rocket.

Basically, anything where you get to train with them.

I took Giovanni down again last week but it took a few goes of getting my team right and powering them up. It was close but I did it 😅

Just him. The grunts are easy enough to beat. Then there's arlo, cliff and sierra who are harder, then Giovanni who is a complete arsehole. I usually Google who to use and there tend to be pages that tell you the best team for each leader/boss, but I just couldn't get it for ages with Giovanni! Had about 50 Pokémon that were at 0 health for ages because I went through loads 🤣
