I got this for Christmas and I’m in love. Is there a thread/community etc I could join?

I’m usually an AIBU inhabitant so this is a bit new...

@AveEldon ooh, I love squirrels! So much that my island is actually called 'Squirrel' 😹 I've only met one in the game but it was a bit odd looking 😳

Ok finally upgraded our online access so I have it as well. So really want to visit some islands tonight and see what other peoples look like and get some ideas! Would love codes if anyone is open to visits tonight?

I have coconuts, oranges, peaches and bamboo and happy to drop some off as a thank you Grin

When people talk about “all squirrel island” etc... do you mean the islanders that live there? How do you pick?

And @Natsku how did you get to visit a Southern Hemisphere island?! Amazing.

@Lazydaisydaydream I have an australian friend who managed to be online at the same time as me so I could visit (although it meant I went to bed very late that night!)

@lazydaisydaydream I don't know how far into the game you are, but once you have your first two residents Tom Nook gives you the opportunity to choose plots for your next three, once you have everything ready you can go to other islands and choose a creature. Each one you visit will have someone camping, if you engage them in conversation you will be able to invite them to move to your Island (or not!) So you just need to keep visiting islands until you meet someone you want to invite. If you don't do that within 24 hours you'll have a resident move in at random though. Once you have 10 residents you'll have one come up to you to say they're leaving once every couple of weeks or so, you can then wish them luck or ask them to stay, and if they go you'll be able to do the island hopping thing again until you find someone you like. That's how I got my 5 cats! Hopefully that makes sense and I haven't misremembered how any of it works!

I think I might have shotting stars tonight if anyone wants to come over, I will open my gates around 20:30.
My two villagers keep mentioning that I have a clear sky and If I'm lucky I should see them tonight, so fingers crossed

@PangoPurrl thanks that makes sense. I am currently in the middle of building the three houses but anytime anyone has asked about moving to the island I’ve just said yes as assumed I didn’t have a choice and they just happened in the same order for everyone haha.

You're welcome @lazydaisydaydream ☺️ I just loved everyone I met when I first started! I'm much more discerning now though! I think it's harder to 'shop around' at the beginning as you worry about spending all your Nook miles on flights.

Thanks for the tips on the villagers. Some of mine are really starting to annoy me! I was quite relieved when one of them started talking about leaving this week! Tom Nook filled up my vacant plot before I could get a look in though!! Ugh!

Feel free to shake trees to get fruit. There is also recipes on left hand side beach out of airport. Learn any you don't already know.
