I think an online indicator for battles would be great. I also think if they hadn't wanted remote battling, including with online friends, Niantic would (or should) have limited the feature like trading. Given they didn't, IMO it certainly isn't silly to wish they'd make a QoL improvement for it.

That said, even for in person battling an indicator would be useful. So many times either I have had to restart my game or my friend has to be able to successfully invite despite being stood next to each other and being able to check an indicator to see if we could "see" each other first would be brill.

It’s not that they didn’t want remote battling, because they clearly do.

It’s that the remote battling is designed for genuine friends who can effectively communicate about when to battle; not internet randoms sharing a friend code with little way to contact each other bar a shoutout on a forum.

Speaking of remote friends, if anyone would be willing to add DS we would really appreciate it, he's at the add three friends task stage. I'll try to make sure he sends frequent gifts :)

Thanks Dillite, he's thrilled! There's no rush for gifts for him, he has the smallest bag size and just levelled up so he's a good 40 items over his limit at the moment Grin

MrsJamin well done, how have you managed that?! My most is 3 in a row, so have been stuck on the spinda task for days. Every time I encounter a nosepass or slowpoke or something with a big circle I end up catching it straight away! I need a field of ponytas!!

As a side note, I’ve done 4 PvP battles tonight and got a rare candy, a sinnoh stone and two lots of stardust, I thought you only got stuff for the first 3 battles?

Of course we are, what else would we be? We all come together on one thread to discuss Pokemon; were not pouring our hearts out to each other.

PickAChew Fair enough if you’re friends outside of this thread too, but nobody has made a genuine friendship out of this thread (and no communication elsewhere) alone.

SneakyGremlins I’m all for making friends online; heck, I had a couple of them in my wedding party. But that was after years of talking, getting to know each other, learning everything about one another, eventually meeting up in the real world.

Not a few months of random shoutouts to coordinate lucky eggs when half the time you don’t even know each other’s MN/Pokemon names.
