Not getting rid completely @SneakyGremlins but they have said it's not a supported feature. If you have more than 100 then some will be deleted, not sure if it will be oldest last or what. They have also said that having too many stacked may cause problems for future special research.

SneakyGremlins · 08/11/2018 22:37

I store things like pineco for when I get "Catch 5 bug types".

BaronessBomburst · 08/11/2018 22:43

What would you recommend as a starter team of attackers Wailmer?
I've got my Machamp (fighting type), a Vaporean (water type), both with high IV (98 and 93) and powered up to the max of my trainer level.
I'm wondering where to focus next?
I've got a good Kadabra, also lucky, but need to catch a free more Abras before I can evolve him.

SneakyGremlins · 08/11/2018 23:06

I think I get why people call me a shiny magnet now...

What would you recommend as a starter team of attackers Wailmer?

BaronessBomburst If you have any legendaries, they should take priority - they are legendary for a reason and one of the best in their type! This particularly applies to Kyogre, Groudon and Mewtwo.

After legendaries, you should switch your focus to high IV:
• Tyrannitar (especially important - always good to have several high IV ones)
• Dragonite
• Metagross
• Salamence
• Gyarados

Definitely stick with your Machamp, and then Alakazam too when you get it. Especially Machamp - it’s a very important player in the attack stakes Smile

SneakyGremlins · 08/11/2018 23:18

I have 89% IV Kyogre, 83% IV shiny Metagross, 98% IV Gyrados, 89% IV Machamp, 80% IV Tyranitar, and a 96% IV Groudon, should I put them all on one team? Or will that not work due to types?

WhatToDoAboutWailmerGoneRogue · 08/11/2018 23:23

SneakyGremlins Very lucky with your Kyogre, Groudon and Gyarados!

I wouldn’t create a party with them as you’ll want to tailor your battle team to whatever Pokemon you’re facing at the time. Even powered up high IV Pokemon can be useless if they’re fighting against an attacker and they’re the wrong type with the wrong movesets.

Type and movesets play a very I mportant part in a successful battle (and can make or break sometimes) so it’s always worth researching Smile

BaronessBomburst · 08/11/2018 23:25

Brilliant, thank you Wailmer.
My only legendaries are the Suicune from last month's boxes. I ended up with five.
Metagross and Gyarados are both a work in progress.
Tyranitar is getting nowhere fast. I have one Larvitar, and one Pupitar - both hatched. I have never seen either spawn locally.
The good bit of news is that DS hacker friend has had his account reinstated and has promised to stop hacking, so at least they'll be three of us for raids now.
There are loads of players locally including level 40s (with multiple accounts!) but we never seem to meet them. And the FB group died a death a long time ago - I checked.

SneakyGremlins · 08/11/2018 23:26

Groudon was 70% when my friend sent it me.

she's still bitter

Thanks Wailmer, I'll look into it! I tend to use Kyogre most (over 2500 battles) as the game tends to recommend it - and it is my highest CP Pokémon!

HannahnotAgnes · 08/11/2018 23:31

I always lose you guys - so just checking in again.

BaronessBomburst · 08/11/2018 23:32

That's true. Even my pony 35% Alakazam has been on the recommended team for some raids. Other times my highest Pokémon have been ignored and my Lairon picked as it's a steel/ rock type.
DS and I like to plan raids, research and pick a posse, then see how it compares with the recommended battle group.
We always end up going with the recommended posse! Grin

WhatToDoAboutWailmerGoneRogue · 08/11/2018 23:37

BaronessBomburst Suicune seems to be one of the very few legendaries that just don’t work in Pokemon Go unfortunately. Its movesets are poor and don’t benefit from STAB, and it lags behind Vaporeon and Gyarados.

Larvitar are exceptionally rare wild encounters (hence the importance of the Larvitar community day a few months back), and rare in eggs too due to their importance in the game.

Thr majority of raid groups operate via WhatsApp and/or Discord, so if there’s one in your area, they’ll all be on that. If you ever bump into one, ask them about a group!

SneakyGremlins Kyogre is an exceptionally good Pokemon so I can see why your friend was so bitter! Grin

WhatToDoAboutWailmerGoneRogue · 08/11/2018 23:40

We always end up going with the recommended posse!

BaronessBomburst I would always advise against whatever the game recommends - their algorithms are poor and don’t take into account all the possible factors.

It’s all a balancing act - IV, CP, type, movesets. You have to weigh it all up.

SneakyGremlins · 08/11/2018 23:40

Ooooh so my catch tonight was extra rare?

And she still hates me Wailmer Grin

WhatToDoAboutWailmerGoneRogue · 08/11/2018 23:49

Ooooh so my catch tonight was extra rare?

SneakyGremlins Yup!

BaronessBomburst · 08/11/2018 23:50

Aaaah. That's interesting. I might start running with my own teams a bit more.
It's also now safe to confess that I transferred 3 of the Suicunes.
Gremlins - I'd hate you for that too! Grin

dillite · 09/11/2018 06:46

what you say that IV's never change but that has not been my experience at all. More than once I have evolved a pokemon at at their final evolution IV would either go down or up. For example my 87% Feebas evolved into a 95% Mylotic.

WhatToDoAboutWailmerGoneRogue · 09/11/2018 10:56

dillite IVs are permenant and will stay the same whatever you do to the Pokemon (power up, evolve) with the exception of trade.

If an IV appears to move in PokeGenie that will be a case of information not being input or read correctly, because it is absolutely impossible for IVs to change.

WhatToDoAboutWailmerGoneRogue · 09/11/2018 11:15

dillite I can find multiple sources of proof that IVs never change, but here is just one:

Individual Values (IVs) – HP, Attack and Defense IVs are, as the name suggests, individual to every single Pokémon and get added onto its base stats to give them a boost. A Pokémon’s IVs are randomly generated when it spawns, hatches or is encountered as a raid boss. IVs cannot currently be modified or influenced, but the higher they are, the more potential the Pokémon has in battle than other Pokémon of the same species. IVs are carried over when a Pokémon is evolved, so always check it’s worth investing the candy into it before evolving (find out how below).

www.google.co.uk/amp/s/pokemongohub.net/post/wiki/ivs-and-their-influence/amp/

IVs only influence a Pokemon’s mathematic stats, so it’s simply not possible for them to change upon evolve (or for any other reason at all). It’s not “what I say”; it’s fact.

bettytaghetti · 09/11/2018 11:22

dilite had you put in the correct appraisal for the feebas? Perhaps previously it had a range and 87% was the middle of that, which got refined on evolving?

Tinkerbellisnotafairy · 09/11/2018 11:42

I have my 400 Magikarp candies!!!! Grin

Does it matter when / where I evolve it?

SneakyGremlins · 09/11/2018 11:49

Have you done the goal for mew that is "evolve a magikarp"? If not wait until you get to that goal!

And wait for a good IV Magikarp to evolve Smile

Tinkerbellisnotafairy · 09/11/2018 11:52

Oooh no I haven't yet sneakygremlins, I'm still trying to evolve my grass Pokémon. Thanks for the tip! I will wait for that one :)

SneakyGremlins · 09/11/2018 11:53

Grin Step AWAY From the magikarp!

I was lucky, I caught a wild Gyrados so saved my candies and got the evolve a magikarp goal a few days after when I had 360 candies, a ten minute trip to the park and I had them done!

Tinkerbellisnotafairy · 09/11/2018 11:56

And I STILL haven't caught a Ditto Angry

I've been catching all the rubbish Pokémon it's supposed to be, and still haven't got it. Any tips??
