Oooo didn't know about the increased spawns, loving it though. Just popping out for another poke walk now.

Does anyone know when they will let you increase pokemon storage sure it was on the cards.

iheartmichellemallon · 14/07/2018 20:27

Well done Dill - I still haven't caught one & I'm almost level 36 & playing over 2 years too!

Anyone know what's going on with gyms? Is it not 1 coin for 10 mins anymore? I seem to not get coins anymore unless I'm in the gym for long enough to actually get 50 coins Confused

OrianaBanana · 14/07/2018 20:33

Caught a shiny Plusle! Looks exactly the same...

Dd caught a shiny minum, it has green ears!

OrianaBanana · 14/07/2018 21:00

And this guy looks a bit like a willy (or is it just me?) 🤔

I caught a shiny Plusle too! If it wasn't for the stars I wouldn't have noticed as I'm not great with shades of colours.
My 3rd ever shiny!

WhatToDoAboutWailmerGoneRogue · 14/07/2018 22:33

OrianaBanana As a general rule, I would always advise against evolving a Pokemon to the second evolution until you have enough candy for its final evolution. This is especially true for rarer Pokemon.

By the time you have enough candy for the third evolution, chances are you’ll find a much better IV one and you’ll have wasted the candies previously on evolving to the second evolution. It also means you have less candies to power up with (if applicable).

WhatToDoAboutWailmerGoneRogue · 14/07/2018 22:46

The following spawns are currently boosted:

• New Alolan Pokemon - Alolan Geodude, Alolan Diglett

• New shinies - Minun, Plusle

• Weather specific - Lotad, Cacnea, Snorunt

• Biome specific - Swinub, Magmar, Seedot, Wailmer, Feebas, Slugma, Aron

• Gen 3 starters - Treecko, Mudkip, Torchic

• Rare ones - Alolan Exeggutor, Aerodactyl, Trapinch

It has also been confirmed via GoFest that you can do both the Mew and Celebi field research tasks at the same time, so for those still on Mew, don’t worry - it won’t go away!

Any tips on throwing an excellent curve ball? I have got throwing curveballs down to a fine art but the elusive excellent is draining my poke balls fast!

RadicalisedPortal · 14/07/2018 23:40

Find a big pokemon always, Wailmer is good. Watch and wait as the circle close around the 'mon.

TakeAChanseyOnMe · 14/07/2018 23:40

@always2ndbest - Pokemon with big circles, like Wailmer and Alolan Eggectutor. My first one was a fluke with a Hoothoot!

PickAChew · 14/07/2018 23:45

This weekend, magma is the one for a big circle, though plusle and minun are so docile that I've had loads of excellent curve balls from them.

TangelasVine · 15/07/2018 08:11

Yes a big one! I got mine on a Furret. I spin the ball in the bottom left corner to do it.
I was rubbish at throwing before the Mew task and now I get loads more XP from throws as I never realised about it before

OrianaBanana · 15/07/2018 09:03

I know that makes sense WhatToDo, but I’m not that serious a player really (I don’t have the opportunity to be)! I just want to see what the evolutions are.

OhLookHeKickedTheBall · 15/07/2018 09:49

I'm finally having a clear out of my pokemon and am trying to keep the good ones. Using pokegenie for IV and levels. What's the best thing to look at, IV or level?

For instance is a 72IV level 27 pokemon worth keeping over a 67IV level 35 one of the same pokemon? Or an 89IV level 22 better than a 91IV level 20 - same pokemon again?

I'm not doing anything with those examples yet as I'm unsure!

Thanks

WhatToDoAboutWailmerGoneRogue · 15/07/2018 10:45

What's the best thing to look at, IV or level?

OhLookHeKickedTheBall IV is the important one because you can’t change it, whereas you can change the level by powering up.

I would always advise caution against evolving and/or powering up any Pokemon under Level 20, simply because of the candy and dust cost.

To take a Pokemon from Level 20 to Level 30, it costs 66 candies and 75,000 dust, but to take a Pokemon from Level 15 to Level 30, it costs 96,400 dust and 86 candies, so quite a bit more.

I personally don’t keep any Pokemon with an IV lower than 90% as I feel anything under is just far too low.

YMMV but anything below 82% is really getting low.

The difference between IV and Level is that IV is how good a Pokemon is, whereas Level is how much it has reached its potential (if you look at the arch you can see the higher the level the further along the arch it is). So yeah, IV is important because that cannot be changed, whereas the level can be.

OhLookHeKickedTheBall · 15/07/2018 11:46

Thanks rogue. I suspected that may be the case with IV being more important. Tbf it's only the odd few cases where its not been simple to figure out who to turf out! Eventually I may even get around to only keeping strong ones. Baby steps Grin

OhLook, for something like a machamp that I would be willing to spend stardust on, I'd choose IV. For something like a Walrein, which I would never power up but might use as cheap gym fodder, I'd go for level, or simply whichever had the higher cp.

BouleBaker · 16/07/2018 05:44

Well done always.

I got a shiny Plusle too andhad to check, it looks no different!

OhLookHeKickedTheBall I have lots of pairs of Pokémon like that, ones high IV but low level, and another one of lower IV but much higher level. I haven’t been able to decide which to keep so I’m keeping both until I get one of high IV ad high level. Basically I’m very indecisive.

DoctorTwo · 16/07/2018 06:53

I am getting heartily sick of hatching rats and cats from 7km eggs. I might start spinning stops to get 2, 5 and 10km eggs just for a change.
