I'm often missing the community days and missed this one as well. Oh well.

I did catch a wild Snorlax once. I ran out of work to get it! It was 100cp and totally rubbish but was my only one for ages.

Ladymadness · 16/06/2018 22:22

imnotadragon · 16/06/2018 23:09

Hey Kpo85 I'm not none of my friends play at all anymore. And no one participates in the raid battles round here either very crap atm

Kpo58 · 16/06/2018 23:12

@imnotadragon if you go to Epsom alot, I can give you the local WhatsApp group details.

imnotadragon · 16/06/2018 23:14

I'm so excited now to go back out there and play this properly again hoping it'll also help me lose weight with all the walking about! I mainly keep getting mr mime, slowpokes, shelders and squirtles around here atm. However I have found one I love feraligatr. He randomly popped up on the high street last week and I haven't found no more since to power him up

dillite · 16/06/2018 23:14

what I read your analysis after I posted. I am seriously impressed by those stats! Written down like that it shows just how much can be achieved in a 3- hour window.

imnotadragon · 16/06/2018 23:14

Kpo58 that would be amazing x

rainingcatsanddog · 16/06/2018 23:21

Anybody use tools like this to work out how much xp to get a gold gym badge?

qplanner.co.uk/tmp/pkmngo/

I wish it was easier to see ingame. The bar is so vague.

WhatToDoAboutWailmerGoneRogue · 16/06/2018 23:25

imnotadragon If you find evolved forms in the wild, they’re likely to be very low IVs and/or CP, so not worth powering up.

Also, Feralligator itself isn’t worth powering up; it’s not a great Pokémon to battle with.

Since stardust is so precious and rare, the best advice anyone can give to new/returning/lower level players is to save your stardust!

That means only powering up battle worthy high IV Pokémon. Any legendary is good to power up (but go with your highest IVs). Main players to power up are Gyarados, Dragonite and Tyrannitar. But again, don’t unless they’re high IVs.

dillite Thanks! I run community days with military precision to make the most of them Grin

Hi all. I've been lurking for a while. I'm level 29 Instinct player. Also recently returned. My sons (7) played but lost interest so I've kind of taken over from him.

I'm pretty glued up on most things except move types and what are good to use in certain situations. If I'm doing a raid I tend to use my legendaries and my Golems but have no understanding of if I could choose more wisely. Can anyone educate me?

WhatToDoAboutWailmerGoneRogue · 17/06/2018 00:07

ContraryToPopularBelief Welcome! Smile

When battling, the best Pokemon to use depends not only on the raid boss itself, but on its movesets too.

So take for example Kyogre, the current legendary.

If there’s lots of you it’s not too bad, but if you’re cutting it close to the wire with low numbers, the Pokémon you choose can be crucial.

Your best counters for Kyogre are Raikou (with Thunder Shock/Volt Switch and Wild Charge) or Vensoaur (with Vine Whip and Frenzy Plant/Solar Beam) if it doesn’t have Blizzard.

Raikou is great as it’s good no matter what moveset Kyogre has. Zapdos and Jolteon should be secondary to Raikou as they’re weaker but still good choices.

If Kyogre has the move Blizzard, you want to use electric Pokémon and Groudon. If it does not have Blizzard, you want electric and grass types.

Do not use grass types if it has Blizzard! Pretty much a one hit knockout.

Of course you don’t know what its moveset will be before battle but if it suggests grass types you can be pretty sure it doesn’t have Blizzard.

If you’re unsure what Pokémon to use, google is your friend. Google the raid boss and it will take you to sites with excellent counter suggestions Smile

Do this enough times and you’ll eventually learn what types are good against others and what movesets work well in which situations.

tumpymummy · 17/06/2018 00:57

I struggled with the app at times this morning which was very frustrating. Probably had to restart the game about 6 or 7 times during the 2 hours I played for. Managed to get 4 shinies which is the best I've ever done. Only had 2 shinies before today. My favourite is Pupitar. Shiny Tyranitar is actually boring.

ContraryToPopularBelief · 17/06/2018 07:47

Thanks @WhatToDoAboutWailmerGoneRogue. It's such a lot to try to get familiar with.

WhatToDoAboutWailmerGoneRogue · 17/06/2018 09:38

ContraryToPopularBelief Yeah, it is a lot! Most of my knowledge comes from when I played the Pokemon games as kid, so which types are super effective against others and so on is just locked in there from then Grin

But it really maximises gameplay, and as I say, if you’re short on numbers for a raid the Pokémon you choose can make or break whether you win it or not.

DoctorTwo · 17/06/2018 17:51

I had a great time yesterday. Just before the event I caught a shiny Wailmer, during the event went to a Kyogre raid where a mate and I both got shinies. I finally got a shiny Larvitar about 40 minutes from the end of the event. I double evolved it and my 2 96%ers. I now have 5 90%+ T'tars.

During the first hour I got kicked out of the game or had it freeze almost constantly, most of us did, though it was fine after that. Everyone in our group at least one shiny, the most was 11! There was one thing that irked; no T'tar raids.

OP posts:
MuddlingMackem · 17/06/2018 18:29

Didn't do too badly yesterday, but disappointed to only get two shinies which means that I don't have a full set. Got three event move T'tars, including the shiny, and still have enough candy to power them up. There was a raid at the park's EX-raid gym during the event, so might get lucky with a pass. I've so far had two passes but haven't been able to go the most recent two as I was at work.

Oh, and a wild Gyarados appeared about twenty minutes after the community event. DD and I caught it but it didn't spawn for DS, who doesn't have one yet, so that was very unfair of game.

DD and I both had problems with the game, had to uninstall it and reinstall during the event. We and DS have been having to do that a lot recently, and it's really annoying.

SeahorsesAREhorses · 17/06/2018 19:05

Caught 7 shinies yesterday, most I have ever got. Still no shiny magicarp, I'm desperate for a red gary.

Wonder what the next community day will be? I could do with a double xp event, I'm stuffed to the rafters with hoarded pidgeys.

Kpo58 · 17/06/2018 20:10

Most people think that next Community Day with squirtle and Hydro Cannon as the event exclusive move.

SneakyGremlins · 17/06/2018 20:25

Oooh I already have lots of squirtles!

Murinae · 17/06/2018 20:38

Anyone going to be in Dortmund for the event? I’m planning on going on the Saturday.

Murinae · 17/06/2018 20:39

squirtles after this water event would be a bit boring.
